I absolutely love the thing, though I do have some questions/problems which I wonder if other T-Bird owners also have....

Hey guys. I'm having a little trouble with my badbird bridge. I noticed that by strings on my non reverse tbird were very loose. It wouldn't tune and I looked at the bridge and noticed it is tilting. It can't even handle the G string without tilting. I have been adjusting the bridge and it still ends up tilting downward again. I don't know if this could have affected it but, the weather has been really humid today. Yesterday it was playing like a dream. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry you are having trouble. It was fine yesterday? What studs are you using? The bridge is designed around 60's studs, newer studs have different dimensions. Tone Pro work the best of the newer studs. I have a new batch of Badbirds coming out it is the complete package and have special design studs the will not allow tilting.

Sorry, Scott! It's not the BB Bridge. I was on the FB page of the Bad Bird bridge prior to writing my post and got mixed up while typing it out.

Well I notice that lately when I play the A and D string between the 9th and 13th fret I get way more output. I haven't changed the setup for half a year, also haven't changed the strings (Ernie Ball Super Slinky's) for about half a year. That's sort of an "sudden" problem.

But a longer running thing is that the action is quite high(that is why i brought it to a good shop for a setup) and the neck is very nicely setup, (very slight curve) but when i lower the bridge, it starts to buzz all over...
Can this be solved by a different string gauge? (it's not that much of a bother anymore, I'm used to it now and the sound of those two pups growling makes up for it. But I am curious if this is an inherent and known problem, or if it has something to do with my setup+strings.

Egbert89, I have the same bass to. vsb, I had the same problem with fret buzz with stock strings, a new set of DR Black Beauties 45-105 fixed it and I have low action, neck is all but straight. Just a slight, and I mean slight curve in it. Not sure about your A and D string problem. I've never used Ernie Ball strings so don't know if they could be your problem or not. I just really like how the Black Beauties sounded on my other birds so they went on this one with in the 1st hour I had it. I would try new strings though, I never have a set on that long, except for my flat wounds on my non reverse. Hope this is some help.

Yes, the Vintage Sunburst, which is really nice.

Not sure about the volume output change between the 9th and 13th except to suggest the strings end up closer to the pickups.

My setup is also as you describe, and the action a lot higher than I like. I have filed the bottom of the nut to get the strings at that end down lower to the first fret, but there is either some higher frets or a slight warp in the neck in the fret range you speak of, 9th to 13th, and if I tighten the truss rod (nice 2-way truss rod in these, BTW) I get back bow. If I lower the bridge I get way too much fret noise and one string (I forget which string) frets out higher up the neck. I have been really busy and have not had a chance to remove the strings, straighten the neck, and try a fret leveling. It is a bit frustrating, so I've been playing my Ricks, especially the new-to-me 1976 FG.

I was thinking the same thing. What are we seeing? Maybe he could show it from some more angles. It kind of looks like it is the tailpiece that is tilted, not the bridge, but I can't really tell for sure. I'm pretty sure the picture is upside down. I think the screws have pulled up on the tailpiece. And I think the bridge cover is just sitting behind the bridge, but I can't tell. :confused:

If the screws on the tailpiece have pulled out (and aren't just loose) I think he will have to plug and redrill the holes.
