Thunderbird Club Pt.IV

The whole reason why i bought my gothic thunderbird was cause I liked the shape and sound it could give me. But now, i find it hard dialling a good tone and make it sounds decent. So i was wondering how i can achieve a almost similar tone to these three bassists:
The newlydeads-Skin tight skin


And I guess Nikki sixx since he has that bassy tone to it.

p.s. i'm upgrading my amp to a 4x10 ashdown with a tiny terror 500 head. I also have an mxr m-80 d.i.+ pedal with distortion channel.

Andii I'd sure try the bass stock and the new rig first to see where it can take you, then add the pedal if you need it. I listen to the Newlydeads clip and thought I could get that with my stock set up using a pick - however Gibson pickups or any of the others I use (Lulls, Greco Orville) have a lot more hi -mids and terble zing than stock Epi pups.

What can i tell...just started my bass learning and there is not much talk about jet.
It was 137$ brand new. i figured after one week practice that neck pickup was dead. Picup to pot wire was broken, fixed it and discovered totally new sound
I like it.
What number do you offering and what can i do with this number?

Here is the Gibson SS Thunderbird I recently picked up for $800. Guitar and case are both perfect. Nice neck, good tone. Took off the nasty roundwounds and put on some tapewounds. Plays better, sounds better, looks better. Nice and solid thru the GK.

Since it's black, when I get the one back my luthier is working on now, this goes in for an Arctic White paint job.

The Epiphone had premium die-cast tuners, and I want to replace it, and buy Grover (like Gibson..).
My question is which grover tuner i see on the gibson: 145BC4 or 144BC4?

144BC4. these are the ones gibson uses on their thunderbirds and they should be a direct fit on an epiphone thunderbird. good luck.

No i don't have them. I might get them later on but for now the stock ones in my epi goth thunderbird do me justice. And i still have the stock pickups in the thunderbird as well. Eventually, i'd like to get epi blackbird pickups since they'll fit the cavity better.

My dad had a Gibson blackbird. Loved it. best sounding thunderbird ever. Sadly he sold it after 2-4 years.

There's a cool Waterstone bass on ebay that looks a lot like Tom Peterssons Mike Lull Tbird.

What fretboard wood do you prefer on a thunderbird? Maple, rosewood or ebony?

I know there are different types of wood that can also be used for fretboard, but i'm simply wondering about these three.
