I really like the yellow pup in that white NR. is is a Dimarzio?

We have have winner ! Yep Vintage Dimarzio Model G one of my favorite pups ever, ugly as sin but they sound great. The close pole piece spacing is a little tricky but the pup isn't all the worried aboput pole pieces being directly under the string. Loud and ballsy, it's like a Les Paul for bass.

Not sure the point of your comment. If it is directed at different colors of similar basses the answer is tunings. Standard, half step and drop D. I also had a Fretless onstage for the show.

But i mean like does a black nut have a different tone compared to a white one? Bone vs plastic or whatever material they use. I just think a white one looks better than a black one, and it'll look even better once i paint the headstock red and keep the flat black outline.

Ok got ya. Sound different? Maybe I sure can't tell. The only nut material I ever noticed that made a difference was a brass, all the rage in the 70's. At that I only noticed a difference on open strings.

I'll be missing this one for awhile......My '77 Thunderbird left for Marty Bell's to be refinished this week. It's a great bass, the pups are a nicely matched set with a warm, very growly tone - Over the years I've had it a number of dings and dent have come it's way and it had suffered a headstock break at some point before I owned it.........
So one of my faves will be out of the house for some new paint, it won't be black upon it's return from Marty Bell

When it was new to me..

And some more recent shots, here's the bridge - notice the reversed saddle on the E string. The neck repair had developed a slight lateral twist and this easily compensates for it - I love 3 point bridges!

I took it to Mike Lull to have the parts stripped off carefully...........Poor naked bass.

If you look carefully you can see the indent of the bridge in the body.

Yeah the colors will be a bit of a surprise, I've chosen them and when Marty gets the bass we'll chat about what he can do, but in some ways I'm wanting to turn him loose and see where it goes so he can have some fun with it and I'll get a nice surprise.
