Here is a pic of my pedal board, left to right we have soviet era Electro Harmonic Big Muff, Whirlwind "Red" (exact recreation of MXRs early Dynacomp ) Ibanez Bass Tube Screamer, Electro Harmonics Micro Pog and Korg Pitch Black Tuner.

I'm now caught up! & we have been waayy past post 1000 for a very long time xD

If i may weigh in of the stand thing, anything that holds the bass naturally is a good thing: either the hercules (or equivalent) where it hangs by the neck, or just something standard that allows the body to be supported (not the A frame type stands). As for me, I'm done with stands, I don't have many to begin with considering all my gear, which is why next year i'm building myself a Vault to store all my basses along with the two combo amps, for a number of reasons: 1-it's easier for me to transport all of them at once since i don't have cases for each of my instruments making it practical to move around in the event of moving out, 2-i get to display everything without danger & having to leave most in their cases or standing on the floor all around the house, 3-IT might take up a wall yess, but since it's going to be shorter than myself (i'm 6'2" the vault will be 5'11" tall), i can display stuff ontop of the vault if ever i lacked space.

& on subject of my Epiphone Bird: i've finally designed the new paint job on the neck. Inspired by trees, it'll have branches & roots along the neck, in which i might do the same with the body (only that will be a continuation of the necks' root design)

On occasion I check out the Squier website but they never seem to have anything with the right configuration/colour/shape *and* a rosewood neck (yeah you can change them). Three basses will be pushing the limits of spousal acceptance factor, four would be right over the edge. In truth, over the years I have tried so hard to like the Jazz (even had loan of one for a year) but there's just something missing.

If you turn the bass all the way up and the treble all the way down on the Italia's preamp it gives a reasonable approximation of a P bass. If you turn the bass all the way down and the treble all the way up it sounds like a pair of metal crushers mating (may be possible but definitely not recommended).

Funny, spouses and their levels of tolerance. I don't understand it. Basses really don't need to be fed, or walked, don't incur veterinary bills, won't be needing a car, and don't eat anything. And they don't borrow the wife's dresses or shoes (like their daughters do...). There can only be one thing left.

Jealousy... bs. That's what nights out are for.

Ibanez Bass Tube Screamer
Does this work well with Birds? I'm looking for a OD/dist pedal that would do the "angry piano" job.

Actually I use a Tech21 VT Bass 2, Darkglass B3k and an EHX Knockout (surprisingly good, though pretty cheap...). I'm satisfied with it in my one band, in the other I try to bring on the Bird (I used to play G&L L1k, great bass) just because... well, you know...

They're over in Bumpworld going "it doesn't matter how mucj I spend...they all sound the same!!!"

;)
We kinda say the same thing when discussing the similarities between Gibsons and Epiphone Classics. On the other hand, I'm here and quite happy to say that I'm completely shallow and really want the truss rod cover to say "Gibson." Plus, I have a polyester shirt.

Polyester will be in action along with the 2015 this weekend. I'm astonished at how close I can get to 7ender P sounds with it, now that it has Sadowsky flats on it. It can still snarl, too, so that's good.

As far as too many bass guitars (and guitars in general), my wife isn't entirely approving, but she doesn't seem to get too excited about it, either. She doesn't buy multiple pairs of shoes, lots of handbags, or clothes she doesn't wear more than once. She's a complete saint. Of course, she's married to me, so she would have to be to put up with it. :D

Precision straight into HiWatts:

Is that the sound you're talking about?:D

I run Thunderbirds through Hiwatts. The Tube Screamer is in the pedal board for occasions I am saddled with a backline that is to clean. So yes Loretta I think the bass Tube Screamer would help get you there.

Yes I think it is just the ticket! I use it when I am saddled with a enimic backline.

DUDES! Just added the new Hipshot KickAss High Mass bridge on my 90's Epiphone Non-Reverse Thunderbird. I also have decided to name this bass the Land Whale. I am now going to order new pickups and I would eventually down the road like to replace the neck. Bridge is incredible. Incredible sustain and articulation is so sharp. Hipshot knocked it out of the park. As far as pickups, I am looking into Blk Tri Bass Destroyer pickups. They look angry and that is what I want. Anyone have any opinions on those? Thanks!
