Wheeeeeee clunk! This strap button position is much more likely to give you neck dive. Any particular reason you're not keen? I have Schaller pins on mine and a strap with a reversed top lock, so the strap isn't twisted when it's on. The only real problem is the leather on the strap is quite thick and required flattening around the lock thread. The lock's nut was then tightened with a spanner and secured with liberal amounts of nail polish and checked frequently to make sure it's all still fast in place.

Cool , thanks . I thought it might so thats why Id asked , before sticking a hole in , that was a waste of time . Ive got a set of straplocks so Ill put them on , it was the twisted strap thing that was the reason for the question . Thank you again

If Seattle is on your itinerary, let me know!
My work keeps pulling techs from our office to help the Seattle branch about once a year. I always apply with the intent of meeting folks.

My office declined my submission each time. I asked why and my boss said I have too many kids to leave. Told him that's why I need to go!

Speaking of new birds, Here's mine near it's blowtorch phase !!!

Almost done with the body work. Just need to route the pickup cavities, neck pocket & final sand before torching (am also shooting one coat of white primer on the side of the body only to hide the ply layers). Tomorrow, i shave the last of the neck wood on the sides, Cut the fret slots, radius the board to 9.5" & then i can trace & carve the profile out. I'm keeping it relatively thick, but unbalanced.
Also got to bevel the headstock edge & i'm very pleased with the results :P Still a very light bass thus far.

I still need to design a truss rod cover, something that can sorta follow the headstock without it being excessive like the thunderbird version i've already got!

I'm really digging it! Maybe I'll commission you to build me one! Also, I kinda dig your idea, I always do it the way I do for sake of ease. No plugging, no finish issue. I DO disconnect my tone pots
