Think "angry piano" run through a low pass filter which starts cutting somewhere in the mids. Low end for days, but less high end. That's a modern Tbird to me.
Or for our friends who mainly hear colors, oceans of dark and milk chocolate, no green beans or peas, with a thin steak cooked medium rare.

Actually a good question. Comparing my '64 Thunderbird and Embassy to the '06: The '64s sound bigger, have different mids (more mid-mids than low-mids like the '06), and the highs are different and can be more crisp if wanted, but I'm not sure how to describe it. Less clean maybe. The '06 isn't brighter by any means (less bright actually), but somehow more refined (whatever that really means), in the highs. Maybe similar to comparing and Ampeg tube head with an Ampeg SS head. They definitely sound similar in some ways, but also have something very different going on in some ways. The SS are more clean and bright, lack something in the dynamics of the mids and lows. YMMV.
My friend is visiting from Kentucky and we were hitting some of the local spots we haunted in the mid 80's. Went in to Bizarre Guitar to see what they had and there was a 2015 Thunderbird hanging up high. Looked very clean and has a case. Price tag is just shy of $2200 so it didn't come home with me.

And today I sent it to guitar tech to rewire; I believe is still the original from 1994, just like the bridge.

I got a new box from the USPS.....and it had one of these inside it
It seems to fit nicely into the hole (that I made for it) on my "pedal board"
I even like the color!

But with today's dollar it's really only $1,200. So it's a bargain!
Curious to see if the price of instruments goes up at lot or levels off over the next year or so.

Wow! No kidding! Our ocean views are hard to come by here. Too many trees and hills....
These days that’s not too bad for a rare Thunderbird. They’re not coming up for sale very often anymore so I assume most are in homes that consider them keepers. Mine is nice and light and is a wonderful player. The variety of tones is amazing.

No, I didn't play it. It was on the top row (You would need a ladder to get to it) and they were busy helping other people so I didn't ask.
