I've been curious about the whole fanned fret thing for a while now, so I keep eyeing different multi scale basses. Ran across this '76 Tbird vs DRoc comparison and figured I'd take the plunge into multi scale to see what it's all about. Very interesting and honest review of both basses…

The Forest Service will attempt to relocate a bear as a last resort. Studies have shown relocation to be ineffective more than 80% of the time. The relocated bear either ends up injured in an altercation with another bear in the new location and dies a painful death or it journeys back to the original area where it ends up weak, desperate and is such a "problem" that it has to be euthanized.

We chose to invade their habitat and need to learn to live with them and keep them in their natural state by not attracting them to easy sources of food and water. There are a lot of stupid people who ignore their responsibility of learning the correct way to coexist with them. Where we are, it's a minority of people who are the problem.

This year we've lost three bears that were hit by cars. All three instances were hit and runs.

I'm guessing using you low-intelligence neighbor as bait is out of the question.

A little confirmation so I don't pancake the tubes. There are two metal bands on top of the Sixty Five. I assume they support the electronics hanging from the top of the case. If so, I'll clean them in place and not try to remove them.

No smart arse questions about how I got two metal bands to stand on such a small amp.

Is that a Musicman amp? I think those are similar to Fenders, the bolt goes right through the chassis and has a star nut, it hold the chassis tight to the cab but you already knew that I bet.

I admit I'm always a little amused to see bass players do that moderate to slight vibrato thing on fretted basses when it can't possibly be heard even by themselves. I get the technique is of some value on fretless, but it kind of cracks me up to see guys getting that liquid hand thing going when no one can hear it. Certainly not if there is one other instrument playing. I don't know if it was something learned and they just do it out of habit or often because it looks cool (more guitar playerish) to some. I watched a couple videos this past week and guys were going to town with the vibrato and I wanted to talk to the TV and say, "You know no one can hear all that extra action you're really getting into don't you?"

I'm certain everyone who does is a far, far better player than I could ever possibly be. I hardly ever bend. Can't even think of the last time I did. I don't even do any vibrato up high (where it can actually be heard some on a fretted bass). I've tried it, but live it can't be heard unless most everything stops. To me it's kind of like having a pedal that doesn't do anything but you want it on.

Just a phillips head. Didn't look inside but the metal straps on top seemed correct for holding up the chassis. Yes, Music Man Sixty Five.

If you bend sideways it's audible even in a mix. I mean you have to put some muscle into it and it's definitely bad for frets with round wounds.

Ron Woods used to bend a lot on a Tele bass with Rotos, check this out especially near the end.

On the straps you mean? That's how Fenders are, Phillips screws on top and a nut under the chassis, there are two holes in the chassis on Fenders, for the bolt to go right through it then a star nut under the chassis, make them very easy to remove.
