Thunderbird Club

Well here it is. Made in the same Indonesian facility as my VP Bird. Under $500. Mahogany body , hardened Maple neck, ebony fingerboard, Seymour Duncan smb‑4d pup ,5 bolt neck, 2 vol , 1 Tone configuration . Body style is growing on me. Just need to not get poked in the eye from that top horn!View attachment 4804395 View attachment 4804396 View attachment 4804397 View attachment 4804398 View attachment 4804399
Looks good from the pics! I suspect you'll be pleased with the quality. I can't imagine what it will sound like. I'm sure it wouldn't sound exactly like a MusicMan (which were not my cup of tea). I would bet I'd like the Kramer you bought more than the MM I had. With that big horn you could call it the Antelope Bass! (Once in a while I have a good suggestion, this is not one of them.)

I buy from here:
Retro Clothing | Mens Flares | Bell Bottoms | Vintage | Mens indie

Their Run & Fly bootcut jeans and corduroy jeans are the best. I also have a pair of jackets (denim and corduroy).
The flares are a bit too much for me 'though. I like the seventies style but more in "ECM back cover" or "Wigwam" style, i.e. poor jazzer and progger style.

Anyone here familiar with Ebony fretboards?
I have one on the G&L BABE below. To me it has a brightness in tone more like Maple. The grain is so tight and the wood so dense that it needs less care in some ways, unless played a lot or you have really sweaty hands. Or a really dry environment. I do treat mind maybe twice a year, but it doesn't change the color like treating rosewood. EB Wonder Wipes are fantastic and can be used on almost anything (per a conversation with a tech at EB, who said they use it that way).

Some look pretty good and prices are very reasonable. So many bass shirts to choose from. (Unless I missed them amongst the juice harp shirts.) Maybe it's because there'a only one bass player per band. Wait, there's also only one keyboard and one drummer as well. When the world is ruled by bassist's, things will be different.

@JIO interesting development with your friends at FedEx…
FedEx Ground delivery network 'on the brink of COLLAPSE' as $54bn conglomerate 'refusing to act' | Daily Mail Online
I wasn't aware they used contract ground delivery services. Might help explain why you got so much runaround on your botched delivery from Pat Wilkins. The article certainly raises a bit of caution in using them for any valuable shipments until they sort things out.
Until about 10 yrs ago I didn't know the delivery drivers are all basically self-employed. They bid on routs, or used to. I'm not sure if they lease the trucks (kind of like cabs) or not. But completely different than other delivery companies as far as I know (which isn't very far).

Holy crap they're out of the hardshell Kramer case. I had to go with the $19.00 Kramer gig bag for now. Must be an effing drawstring burlap bad with Kramer stitched on it for $19.00. uuuggghhh
That does sound a little odd. Might want to keep the shipping box as a case until you find something better!

The D-1 case? SW was out of stock for a while now, and one showed up as a blemish model.

It should be here tomorrow.

I don't think SW is going to reorder them…

they fit bass VI's well with a little modification.

Just picked up an Epiphone for $280. Not bad at all!

That's a great deal on a great bass and a great picture as well! If you're not already a member here be sure to ask our Queen for a number and join the Tbird fun! Lots of great Tbird tips and tricks here as well as tasteful off topic stuff on occasion.
Happy NBD!
