First choice woulda been Chicago(but while I sing, I can't sing like Cetera); second, BS&T 'cos Fielder didn't sing-that I know of.

I had the pleasure of being in a 7 member band in 69/70 that played a lotta early Chicago/BS&T. I had most of the bass lines down-we had note-for-note charts of the C.T.A. album-or what I could hear from BS&T.
Lotta rehearsal for 2 short-lived gigs. Nobody wanted to pay 7 guys.
ADDENDUM: On our last night of our last gig, we played whatever our last song was, then played "The Star Spangled Banner" like a TV station sign-off, after which, the lead singer, guitarist, and I stepped to our mics and went "ssssss"-as if the signal was "off". Someone in the audience 'got it' and hollered "far-fvcking-out". We packed our gear, said "hasta la later" and never saw each other again.

There was a Phil Rudd story. They were going to record with a new producer who was demanding Phil play to a click track. Phil was resisting and they did a test run without the click. Phil nailed it. The producer was amazed, Phil responded with “yeah, I’m a f’ing metronome”.

Fielder played a lot of flat five stuff, jazz guy, Cetera played it straight, I find his stuff a lot easier to play.
When I still played sax, I useta end on a flat 5(13th?) on a lotta songs.
That I can believe, his timing seemed almost perfect.
And I know, I don't think we got that stuff until 1984. I was just thinking now about how appropriate the album name of 'Back in Black' was, it was their first after Bon died.
There was a story that Bon had started a song - maybe just the title - Back in Black before he died.
But his theme was they were Back in the Black after Highway to Hell’s success. They finally had some money in the bank, credits being the black, after being in debit ‘in the red’ all the previous time.
The AC/DC bit was sarcasm, no? Hard to tell via Internet these days...
I come from a very varied background. My Dad played in a coupla local(Miami)big bands, so I grew up with that influence, played saxes in concert, marching, and big band ensembles in H.S. and USN, and 'dug' R&R from 57>. Picked up bass during my Navy time in 67, and have played-mostly-bass ever since. The jazz has always stayed with me to some degree and is prolly recognizable in my 'style'(?)whatever genre I'm playing. The one constant is that I use-and prefer-this "Heavy Metal/Hard Rock" THUNDERBIRD-w/ flats-for any(and every)thing.
I know ppl who got their 'arses in a sling' bc others didn't "get" sarcasm.

Yup, I had no jazz background at all, I wouldn't even listen to it until the early '90's when my then flute playing girlfriend dragged me grumbling to a Count Basie concert, Frank Foster the great tenor say player was leading it, the Count had died recently. I changed my opinion fast, they were great. I like it now and can play it but not as natural as rock or blues.

Nope. I do like some of their stuff(I haven't heard everything nor do I own any albums), but a lot is played on Sirius/XM. I don't turn it off.I assume you don't like AC/DC?
There are other artists(?)that I will change channels-I mostly listen to Little Steven's Underground Garage-when they're played who might be surprising: Stones, Springsteen, U2(I'm mostly Irish, sorry); and others that I'll search out: Joan Jett, Scorpions, Vixen, and, of course, the 'horn' bands.
I tend to listen to the overall sound of a group/record. My family has been aghast that I like a song: "Have you listened to the lyrics?" "Nope, just the sound-don't really care about the words."

I should add about Angus’ “costume” in that clip. It was probably a couple of years earlier that an Aussie company Bonds (I think) released “Convict Pyjamas” for kids / maybe teens (I had some!) playing up the Australiana colonial days thing and that was what Angus is wearing. Pyjamas!
It was a thrill seeing this song and film clip on tv as a kid. We all picked the convict pyjamas thing straight up. See what Angus is wearing!
The other thing was it was pretty big budget for an AC/DC shoot up to then (still cheap as I bet). They didn’t get an effects guy for the explosions, but someone had a mate ‘who knew this stuff’. He turned out to be in demolition or something!
