Well how’s that? It sure is Cliff hiding in the background. Well spotted.
I must have forgotten and just went for the Ripper.
I thought that unusual colour Ripper was Marks personal bass. Evidently Mark and Cliff get along ok so I wonder if they borrowed it. It would be an unusual gesture if that was the case.
Edit: mind you looking again that isn’t Cherry burst. They were certainly hiding Cliff away. There were issues with getting Cliff a work permit in Australia at first due to him replacing an Australian musician. He was stopped from recording on Powerage at first.
I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Nope. I do like some of their stuff(I haven't heard everything nor do I own any albums), but a lot is played on Sirius/XM. I don't turn it off.
There are other artists(?)that I will change channels-I mostly listen to Little Steven's Underground Garage-when they're played who might be surprising: Stones, Springsteen, U2(I'm mostly Irish, sorry); and others that I'll search out: Joan Jett, Scorpions, Vixen, and, of course, the 'horn' bands.

I tend to listen to the overall sound of a group/record. My family has been aghast that I like a song: "Have you listened to the lyrics?" "Nope, just the sound-don't really care about the words."

I find It kind of funny you enjoy LSUG yet change the station when the Boss comes on.

Even Cliff used a Ripper in the promo video. Must have been one of the very first things he did with the band.

I will admit to being nothing more than a casual AC/DC listener for all these years. But this discussion over the past few days is changing my perspective. I’m going to give them some serious attention now. Thanks gang.

Yeah, but it was Cliff, IIRC, that played the 'right' bass-a non-reverse Gibson THUNDERBIRD.

FWIW, no, that's not why I bought mine. I played the neck on one that someone else was buying. Fell in love. 3 years later, my 67 and I found each other.

Dad played piano and organ beautifully. He had to stop playing a few years ago because of tremors and other aging issues. 8^(

Alex Harvey was Bon Scott's hero. Both were Scottish-born rock'n'roll journeymen who found late success with younger bands. Each set fire to their respective corners of the world stage, then went down in the flames in the cold dawn of the early 1980s.

Only the Aussie outfit lived on to become a household name. But AC/DC had one distinct marketing advantage. They hadn't named the band after their singer.

Not that I know of, I don’t think any are car guys. In fact for a long time Angus didn’t drive at all.
Of course, Brian is an exception with his Bentleys and racing car. But they aren’t in Australia.

Jimmy Barnes (before money troubles and moving temporarily to Aix-en-Provence) had a C1 Corvette.

Scott Owen double bassist for The Living End has a FB Holden Panel Van (circa ‘60) to move his bass around with originally, now for fun and sentiment.

Country singer songwriter Troy Cassar-Daley has a blue EH Holden (circa ‘63/‘64) that he has recently swapped in a 253ci V8 to replace the 6.

Im sure there will be others, but none come easily to mind

Could you wire in 3? 72, 47, 22 (whatever they are) and a 0,1,2,3 rotary selector? 0 being no time in the circuit, 1=22, 2=47, 3=72 say????
