I thought they were great and even had their greatest hits years ago, once in a while I'll play to their hits on YouTube, Larry Knechtel was their bass player, he was great. Multi Instrumentalist, was really a keyboard player, one of the Wrecking Crew, but you already knew that.

Yes, he and all of them were just really great players. Not for everybody, but no denying they made some great music for the time.

David Gates wrote all of their hits too, he produced two singles for Capt Beefheart believe it or not. He was active well before Bread, released his first single with his first band in 1957, interesting read:

And for the record, I freaking LOVE my Super 800 Plus. It’s always on (well, when the power to the board is on), and I’m really happy with what it does. I can’t wait to DI it Sunday, then stretch my bass cord out during rehearsal and hear it through the PA. Huge thanks to @BklynKen for turning me on to these. And they do custom graphics! I would have gone with my own design rather than just custom colors, but with so many knobs and switches, it wouldn’t have looked good. But now (using the same color scheme), that graphic will go on the custom switch pedal.

So glad you're happy with it! I'd love to see the settings you're using.

I want to change strings on my new to me BaCH (remove Chromes and put a set of stainless Steel Superbrights on). But I left my setup tools at the other house. I do have a Gibson multi tool here. I’m lazy and do not want to start in in case I need to adjust the truss rod and don’t have the right tool. Anyone here know if the nut is the Gibson style or if it takes a an allen wrench? If the latter, what size? I know I have a 5 mm allen wrench with my bicycle tools.

IIRC the BaCH uses an Allen wrench. Unfortunately I don’t know off hand what size.

My high school combo played a couple pretty sappy songs from the early '70s, so a Bread song might have been included. We did play "I'm Your Captain" (GFR), "Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida", and "Sympathy for the Devil".

It’s the first outing for the R&B band. We don’t have enough songs for 3 sets, so set #2 will be a rock set - same bass, drums & guitar with Emile on vocals.

It will be interesting to see how Phil does with his stage talk. He’s got lots of experience as a bass player, but not as a lead vocalist.

I’ve played Come Together a thousand times, but singing the backgrounds and playing that sliding riff is a challenge!

Some songs are harder than others. Singing (mostly bg) and playing doesn't come naturally to me - I just bludgeon myself playing the hard parts over and over and over until it becomes automatic.

It just goes on and on and on............I've had the odd person ask me to play it here and there and when I complain they always say but it's got such a great bass line (because it does) and I do end up playing it, I mean jams etc.

Yup, that's the best way, I have to get it to where I don't have to think about the line and that's hard for me because I love playing bass much more than I do singing. I like to vary the line.

As much as I like my Holeyboard pedalboard, I’m thinking of switching to a board in case using hook and loop fasteners. Just pop the top and plug in. If you have something you like that will hold 9-10 pedals including a short, wide, volume pedal, what is it?

The Pedaltrain Metro series might work for you. Also a Voodoo Lab Dingbat Small EX or Medium.

I didn't even want to go to 18", but the Pedaltrain's narrowness made it more palatable because I strap the pedalboard case over my Gator soft case that goes on my back. Relying on public transportation really changes your needs.
