Thunderbird Club

I need to come home before the market research clogs my arteries. Sorry I didn’t get a photo before we dove in…

Is it a direct drop in? Asking for a friend who has a set of Lollar T-bird pick up in a a drawer......;)
No the Casady pickup is a little narrower. I am considering routing for the Tbird pickup and putting the Casady pickup in a chrome Tbird case.
It will also take a bit of engineering because Tbird pickups are held in place by pushing them down onto foam. I might have to mount a block in the Casady body or maybe work up mounting tabs for the pickup case.

Ok folks I need advice on where to find an oversized strap . Something for tall/ fat people. I fall in the latter category. Every strap I buy puts the bass almost entirely on my chest. Yes I've adjusted to full length. I'm very wide shouldered and baffle chested to boot. Any suggestions please ?

I'm overly tall, and had a strap that I wanted to use, but was just way too short.......my solution was this:

Planning on getting one for my other straps too.....

Just picked up my first thunderbird. I needed a backup 5 string before tour, so I went ahead and snagged an epi pro 5. From everything I've read, the preamps and pickups are less than Ideal. Thinking about trying to throw a darkglass tone capsual, and some nicer modern sounding pickups. Was just hoping for some suggestions on pickups and to see if this was even possible. It'll be my first time modding a bass. Thankyou! Glad I can now join the club

Would EMG's 5 string passive be of interest?

I have looked for extra long straps and found a few. I like Thunderbirds slung really low, which means even though I'm neither tall nor especially round, a long strap is necessary. Levy's makes extra long, 4" wide straps. There's another one that's some kind of synthetic webbing and adjustable that can get even longer. I don't remember what it is and it has no markings.

Welcome to our world. I have a Pro IV and didn't like the preamp or pickups that much. It is now passive, with Alumitone pickups and it is fretless. You can do almost anything you want if you have enough time and money.
