We eat oysters on the half shell a lot in the season. Raw oysters are not for everyone. A friend of mine said he tasted a raw oyster twice. Once going down.... :)
people in Italy return them if they don’t shiver when squeezed with lemon….talk about freshness….I like them every way, raw, flowered and deep fried, in omelettes and Rockefeller, my favorite….
my biggest gripe about leaving Seattle was not having this place nearby anymore……over a dozen varieties at all times…..

Mexicans add shrimp, octopus and abalone….can’t beat them like that….Photo Credit @JJR58

A Dozen on the half shell in Texas , yes Texas think gulf oysters, is $30 freakin bucks right now. Crazy

Chickens in general are nasty and will eat anything. Including things in a outhouse. They have no morals or scruples. Some people raised on a farm in these parts won't eat them.
yeah, never understood why pigs get a higher “filth rating” than chickens, I mean, chickens will eat their own waste as well…..love Dave’s @Stealth57 story about the chicken and the tarantula…

The White Castle Chronicles :)
At the time, I had a girlfriend who lived about 45 minutes the other direction. That was another reason I needed bags of White Castles for fuel. She looked a lot like a young Linda Ronstadt, which made avoiding entanglements when she resurfaced after college a bit of a challenge. But I did, and it was a good thing, because she was the crazy. That's a whole 'nother aspect of the White Castle Chronicles that probably ought to remain unwritten.

I love me some oysters on the half shell. I grew up on raw clams and oysters. The family used to go to a restaurant in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn called Lundy's. 3 stories and a full block with sidewalk oyster bars. It was waterfront on Emmons Avenue. Fabulous memories.

here’s another way that we do oysters.
Oyster shooters. Put a fresh shucked oyster in a shot glass. Usually a plastic red cup.Add your favorite hot sauce.
Top the small cup with Tito’s vodka and down the hatch.
Sometimes I’ll set up a table for friends and serve them up.
Not a bad way to spend the afternoon. :)

Seattle's worth the trip just for the food.............. But there's so much more.

Forget it. Your gear won't fit in it. Not practical at all.

I have Subaru's to haul gear, Rubber nosed Firebird just because it's damn cool.... My friend Bill says he'll likely sell it later this year which makes me a bit sad as I like it best of all his beautiful Pontiacs.

:laugh::laugh: When it comes to prawns, I certainly do! When we were kids on holidays we would go prawning at night. A lamp, a net and go tramping up the local estuary when the prawns were ‘running’. These days I’d be too scared of bull sharks.

PS: also been known to eat squid and calamari. Not got a big wrap on oysters, but scallops are good as are mussels in a nice tomato chilli sauce and crispy bread to soak it up.

Sea food? Yes, I see food and eat it! :D I like all of the options - especially fried calamari - yum!
