Roger, I'm glad your spine is involved with moving that cab - Not mine!
Same as Gbassnorth said- keeping the back straight, using them skinny legs! And a piece of 1/2" plywood laid on the old stone steps up to the landing! Yee...

(Edit) Sorry, I think that was Goalee...

It is one heavy muther.

Funny, this is the second one I've had. The first one I let go of for that very reason. I'm afraid this one will have a similar chapter in my life.

The 700 opens up at a lower volume which is nice, but I've never even approached getting it to half way up - Silly, incredible loud.

All this GK talk has made me miss my GKs live. I switched to an svt for this reason. I had 2 800rbs I'm my rack. One for each 8x10 cab. I ran the out from my rack gear into a Y cable into both GK heads then each into their cab.

I don't know why but I was constantly having prob and usually just before we went on with something not working right. I swapped out all cables, ECT but was always something. The other issue was, the 300 watts seemed to start to distort cranking it to get them loud enough. I liked the idea of 1 amp for cab but of course this is 2ohm. Lately I've been thinking about the 2001. I have steered away from the higher powered heads (the reason is used 800s) because I need that rails tone and therefore Maxx the woofer and boost. Now I see GK will be revamping there line, we'll see. Love to get ahold of a 2001 and test drive it.

Sell it and find a big ol' Acoustic 360 and 361 Power Plus cabinet. You have not experienced overkill until you try one of those. Plus, the cabinet has double the plywood for extra ground hugging weight. You know that's good.

I'm not happy unless I have an enclosure that, after it's raised up off the earth a short distance, begins to actually pull itself back down to the earth, actively resisting progress upward. Thereby I am assured my tone is "grounded" and carries the proper "authority".

Yes, enough weight is critical to good tone.

Unless you were running stereo, why not run a cable from the preamp/FX out of one amp into the poweramp/FX in on the other? Less exotic cable stuff to go wrong...

Either that, or thete' s a nice old Trace Elliot AH300 Series6 over on Cape Cod... I do dig the old Trace stuff. Also loud as hell, but a different character than the GK.

But you're right, should trade down a step...

I just picked up an old Trace 200 watt 2X10 combo. I wanted something easy to move and had some balls to it if it needed to be used in a small club. I like the way it sounds and it gets LOUD too! Old Trace stuff is built like a tank!!

Yes it is! And clean, punchy heft that's a surprise to the sensibilities. Conservative power ratings, it's either dark-arts engineering or they just spent all those years lying about their output...

Never had a Trace I didn't like.
