Thunderbird Club

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that guy.

Why, did he say something bad about T-birds? I watch/listen to a few reviewers on-line and because I'm not in the market for anything they review - I listen objectively and generally agree with their assessments.

I think you and I can agree that he's an @$$hol3.

To each their own, but I don't share that opinion. He's obviously a skilled player and his opinion is based on playing a lot of basses. Like I said - because I don't have any allegiance to or interest in any of the basses he reviews, I just access his reviews neutrally, and from what I've watched he consistently points out the good and the bad. As in - he's not being paid to promote product as some reviewer are.

I don’t have a 60’s Tbird. But I think the ‘21 with stainless steel rounds also comes close to what I have heard. With a bit more bottom than the VP. YMMV and ears too.
Yes, I am hearing things differently and would respectfully have another take. The part about VP lacking bottom/depth of the 60s is true. The '64 sounds huge but never boomy of mushy. Through my amps, the VPs are closer than any other Thunderbird I have. More so than the '21 NR, which does not sound that much like the '64 to my ear, regardless of string. No knock on the NR which I love, but as I've said before, if I couldn't have my '64 and could only have one bass, that I have, it would be one of the VPs. If I had a Greco, I suspect that would be in that position. (The '64 Epi is right up there as well, but the Thunderbird body just fits me better and gets the slight edge.) To my ear and through my amps/cabs, the NR sounds closer (not at all the same), to the '06 than the '64. At least that's how I'm hearing things.
