Thunderbird Club

To clarify: this was in 70-72 when I was playing(keys/sax)in a group doing high school shows. A crew of kids would meet us, help load in/out, and earn passes to our shows. Almost everything was on wheels and we had a dolly for whatever wasn't. Took ~20 minutes to get everything into the gym or auditorium where we were gonna play. In addition to the bassist's V4/2 2x15s, I had a VOX organ>a Leslie 147>the Kasino, the guitarist had 2 VOX Super Beatles, the drummer had a double bass drum kit-all in cases-plus trap case, and our components PA, which was in a homemade plywood cab, and 4 Altec VOT utility cabs. And all the mics, cables, and stands. Each of us moved his own bass, guitar, or sax/flute.
FWIW, during the time this band was being put together, I saw-and held-a Thunderbird for the first time at Manny's, NYC. And thus began my quest. Found the 67NR in 73 across the street from Manny's. Rudy's, IIRC. $250 w/ ohsc.:)

The strap lock "misfired" and down it went. With a bang. Can I use some swear words? I did when it happened.

We'll see what my insurance company says.
Thankfully the VP is still available. Doh.

Well that's hard to look at - Ugh!

Oh Man! That sucks big time. Which locks? Defective? User error?
That looks like something a good repair person should be able to fix without much being noticeable. Did you find the pieces?

As I constantly tell myself, it’s only money. As my retirement date keeps looking more unrealistic every day….

That makes my stomach hurt.

The day I brought my Bird home from the store in '79........before I knew about the requirement for strap locks, the strap let go while I was playing in my bedroom. Thankfully, I grabbed the neck so it landed on the body end. Put a decent ding in the body but nothing like your catastrophe.

Thank you! Very happy to be here :)
I’m one of the big EPI fan boys here. Great quality at affordable prices. The guitars are great too. Maybe not as a nice as my Gibsons, but I love them just the same. I do not have a Pro. But I have Limited Edition Custom Shop IVs; a Silverburst, a sparkling Pelham Blue, a sparkling Candy Apple Red and a TV Silver. I also have a Goth, a Nikki Sixx Blackbird, and a Vintage Pro.

I really like the looks of yours. I need to look for one. Congratulations!
