Thunderbird Club

What tuners would someone recommend for replacements of Epiphone Thunderbird 60s?
Hipshot are a common option. Others may have other options, but anything with hipshot I have is nice.

Are you having issues with the stock tuners not keeping tune? Just curious. Both of my VPs tune and hold just fine. One out of 8 is a little rough feeling when turning, but still works fine. It's preference thing, but I would hate to see you spend money on something that's actually working--money that can go for a used VP at a crazy price like above.

Indeed. It was something so many looked forward to--not knowing what was going to happen and then talk about it the next week. There is no program I watch on TV anymore. A few things from History, Discovery, etc., some sports--but for any comedy--I look to something older that's actually funny. The comments in this club thread are far more humorous than what's on TV. Largely do to the great cast here!
Not disagreeing. What passes for comedy these days has been so 'sanitized' that the humor is no longer humorous. Example: I was never a fan of Rickles, but he wouldn't even get a shot on "Tonight" or any other show. Same with Dangerfield, Carlin(G rated version), and others, mostly dead. And dropping a boatload of 'f' bombs-on the channels that permit that-isn't actually funny. I'm actually thankful for the laugh tracks so I can tell when something is(s'posed to be)funny.

Agree. Yeah, yeah, we all know you learned some cuss words.... (Not you, but I suspect you have picked up a few.) Much "comedy" is more shock than thoughtfully funny. "I can tell more high school bathroom humor jokes than you can," must often be the approach. Some of the funniest people ever hardly even cussed and only hinted at more discrete matters, which made it really funny. Now it seems many are not clever enough to be funny and rely on F bombs and mindless shock or intentionally saying things to offend. For that reason many couldn't so network TV like in the past because they couldn't be funning for the reason you stated. IMO--which means nothing.

Turkeys often forget they have wings..... It walked back and forth for no telling how long as if in jail. I finally went out and reminded it of the wing things on each side.

Yes it is, except I now have 2 VPs, when I only wanted 1. What's the problem with that? I'm trying to reduce basses, not increase. I'm up to 20, up from 16 last year :help:

I’m on 28.. I can’t seem to sell the ones locally that I’m will to give up and I don’t want to deal with shipping and Reverb fees….

I was fortunate to see Carlin 'live' 3 times. Anyone who saw his 'button-down' version on "Tonight" or "Ed Sullivan" woulda been shocked. BUT, he told stories that were funny-and freer with language. Pryor told funny stories. Definitely free with expletives, but funny.

I’m absolutely no fan of high school knucklehead, idiot, boys behaving juvenile humor. I hate it. I like clever comedians, adult language (so some swearing is fine just not as a crutch), and humor that requires me to actually be intelligent. Again clever (and dark, preferably)…
