I'm planning only 1 PUPThis bass has never had any other pickups than those Chinabuckers. Both in '64 positions. View attachment 5132312
Nah. I can get one of my Thunderbirds to honk, burp, bark or fart if I wanted to. Or my Foundation. Maybe if someone showed me a picture of my girlfriend Nikki playing one, I’d reconsider.
If it were me, I’d dump clarifier in it, run the pool vac for 24 hours, and call it a day.you live closer Dave, side door open……![]()

But in all seriousness, I have played some over the years and just don’t care for them. It’s like the few who don’t care for non-reverse Thunderbirds. Or reverse Thunderbirds.
But never say never. If a FSO J bass (Fender, Lakland, Sadowsky or something of like quality) in Lake Placid Blue or Daphne Blue with a matching painted headstock came up at a killer price, I’d give it a chance. Remember, I’m that shallow.
There is no way I would to try to do a circumcision on a set of $52.99 tapes. Not after my wife (who rarely says anything about what I buy for my music) noticed how much they cost.I personally don't like the looks of it when it happens. Even used to circumcise the silk a bit. I'm sure it makes some difference, but I did some A/B testing once and couldn't tell any difference, which was a surprise. I know it has to make one, but not enough for me to notice.

Not looking to steal your well deserved title of Cabana Boy.Was just gonna say, any pool cleaning is now relegated to Dave, with Marshall as his assistant![]()

Yeah, I wouldn't try it on tapes either. That would be a really bad idea. There is no way I would to try to do a circumcision on a set of $52.99 tapes. Not after my wife (who rarely says anything about what I buy for my music) noticed how much they cost.
Party time! Woof! Woof!Ha!…yeah, look how excited they look…

Yeah right. Good try. She has one P bass. And multiple Thunderbirds, and at least one Epiphone El Capitan ABG.Not a good pic, but the frame cuts off the Jbass. If only it weren't cropped.

Not really. I had one silk twice the length of the others. A little thin CA at the cutting point and all done. Can you figure out which string?Yeah, I wouldn't try it on tapes either. That would be a really bad idea.
Where is that? And is "The Devil in California" your band or the venue?
Shallow is an admirable trait.Nah. I can get one of my Thunderbirds to honk, burp, bark or fart if I wanted to. Or my Foundation. Maybe if someone showed me a picture of my girlfriend Nikki playing one, I’d reconsider.
