Kind of how I became with EBCFs. I loved how they felt (no Cobalt sensitivity/princess fingers problem). I just wasn't all that enamored with the sound.I had Rockmasters on the Flamingo and then put Cobalt Flats on it. It will probably be back to a new set of Rockmasters in a bit, not because the EBCFs don't sound like they should any more, but because I like the way Rockmasters sound better.
something tells me your AC outlet grounding may be goosy….how old is the house/wiring?..ohm out the ground on your outlet to the nearest exposed pipe with you VOM…..shut the breaker to that outlet off if it makes you more comfortable…Well, since my amps love Chucky's garage power and hate mine, I ordered two high end Furman power conditioners. One has an MSRP of $200 and the other $500. The small Furman I have doesn't help the static and neither did the $200 unit. Waiting for a 20a to 15a plug to arrive tomorrow to test the big unit. If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what else to try.
P.S. The Furman says voltage is 123v. So, not a sag…

Just to add to Chuck's suggestion, take a look at your breaker panel. There should be a ground wire from the panel to a ground rod.House built in 1986.
That tells you the outlet grounds are connected to each other. 5 ohms is on the borderline, but high from outlet to outlet. I would check the outlets (breakers off) and make sure the ground wires are actually connected to the receptacles. Sometimes guys will ground the box and rely on the mechanical connection of the receptacle/box.I don't have any grounding point (pipe) within 15'. I am having a hard time visualizing what you mean. I can run an extension cord from the outlet the amp is plugged into, but are you saying to move the amp closer to the pipe and ground the chassis to that?no bueno, should read much closer to 0...
run an extension cord to near that pipe, fire up the amp and if noisy. ground the chassis (using a piece of zip cord) to the pipe..

My CP is a 2012. I know they had the VP pup location for a very short time, maybe a year. If the top edge of the neck pickup is below the center pickguard screw (pickguard screw closest to the neck pickup) then you have the VP location, if the top edge of your pickup is above that pickguard screw then you have the modern Gibson location. CP with VP pup location visual check, should look like this…

Somewhere there should be a large copper wire that connects the neutral bus to a metal pipe or ground rod.There is no visible pipe in the breaker box but all the ground wires exit the top of the panel and into the wall.

My bass is a 2012 model made in August of that year. There my be earlier copies than mine and we know there are later copies. @KaraQ put out a plausible hypothesis that it may also be related to the Factory where the bass was made. Mine is from factory code 23 which IIRC is a Sammick factory in Indonesia.

While not definitive, perhaps it adds a data point. My serial number says February 2014 but the dates on pickups say October 2013.It seems 2012-built CPs have started showing up recently.....or we've only just started noticing them?
I think, but have no proof, that *if* 2012 is when Epi started building the Classic Pro (not seen any 2011-built ones....yet), through maybe a year-ish later in 2013, those were built for the 2013 model year (like car manufacturers do...), and then some time in 2013, production changed to the 2014 model year bass, with the different p/u locations.
So, basses later-built in 2013 may have 2014 pickup configuration?
My current made-up reason for the change is, since the CP and VP appear to have been made in the same factory, and are, imo, amazingly similar, they wanted to use the original CP tooling to develop the VP, because of the pickup locations that are more close to the original Thunderbirds. So, they changed the CP to be more like the Gibson T-birds?
Alternately, maybe Gibson finally approved for them to copy the then-current Thunderbird, and they put the old templates on a shelf until the idea for the VP happened along?
