Thunderbird Club

Gotcha. My lull has been my first foray into tbirds and I love the big sound with the articulation that it has and the body that comes with it. Jazz basses always scoop themselves out and either sound thin or super boomy. I'm looking to rout a jazz out and some black bird pickups would be ideal. I have some Bart soap bars in a bass and I love that so I'm curious about their TBird pickup

How did those barts sound?
I have a set of Barts and a while back I recorded and posted an A/B comparison with one of them and a Chinabucker in my J.
I've read that the Barts are dark and the Chinabuckers are thin. To me they both sound pretty good and were very close. IIRC someone commentented that the Bart was brighter - not what I expected!

Geesh. I take a 3 week vacation and only 115 pages behind.

Just the "normal noises" here at the asylum!

Some very nice Canadians visited Seattle, I dragged a "local miscreant" out as well!

Man, I’m I glad I got a hold of a SideWinder and some ThunderBuckers when I did.
And my Lollars.
I’m all set for the next basses they go into.

I like the Lollars a lot, I have the shiny nickel ones in the white ‘03, tuned E standard/drop D. I have another pair of black nickel in my ‘95, tuned D standard/drop C. I scored some Thunderbuckers in the natural ‘01 I scored a few weeks ago, tuned Eb standard/drop Db, and so far I like them a lot, and I have a Curtis Novak set in my ‘22 VP, and once I found the right strings for it (heavy GHS boomers) I also like those. The white VP I have is the only one with stock pickups (760’s), and they just sound great in that one.
