Here’s my ‘95 with black nickel Lollars.

How are you liking the 95? Ebony board?

Liking it a lot better with the pg you made for me!

‘95 is the first one I got a few years ago ($800 with OHSC) and I had put the Lollars in it pretty quickly. Then it was the gateway. All 4 of the Gibsons that I have now have the ebony, and I like all of them a lot. The ‘95 is the only one that had suffered a break. Luckily it was repaired well, according to the shop I took it to. I think a new fret job will be in order someday as it’s not as perfect as it can be, but it’s total playable and very much a good player.

That’s the current lineup, minus the Black ‘22 Eppi (not photographed).

On the hunt for a 2000-2004 Gibson in black with ebony FB. I love the Eppi’s but very much like the Gibsons better.

Nice! There's a 95 in the classifieds but its almost too mint and its a sunburst. I'd rather get one a little more beat up and refinish it a colour.

All that Tbird goodness in one place is rather hypnotic…

…need more birds!
…must have more birds!

Hate to skip pages, but we had not internet Sunday and was working in the garage all day today (vacation). And, you people type to darn much. :D

After weeks of playing the and loving the '81 G&L, I used the '64 Sunday. All I can say is, I could play nothing but that bass the rest of my life and be completely happy. The Reverse is magic to my ears and never gets old. Every time I play it I think to myself how crazy good it sounds.

Yeah, I’m not worried about “Gibson” branded, but I am surprised that that are standard length, I thought they would be long. So the regular ones that you would use on a Fender type through the pick guard or control plate are long enough?

They should be long enough to fit, as they're usually 3/8" in length (the threaded portion of the pot). I'd say if you can take one of yours out from your bird & measure its length, you'll have accuracy to what length is needed.

BTW, you have a nice collection of birds! The 95 w/black nickel Lollars looks amazing! How's the Babicz bridge in terms of tone/set up? Any reason you went with it vs the hipshot supertone? I quite like the look of the babicz over the hipshot supertone (even though my epi bird still sports the 3 point because i've no real issue with it - however that might change)

You're getting some matching rings for this one? It will look fantastic!

Yep, nothing wrong with my VP, but I really like my Gibson Birds better as well, the necks are just perfect for my hands.

A few of these came with the Hipshot. I pulled them off and sold them on eBay. It’s mostly aesthetic, I like the heavy duty and somewhat complex look, but also the Babicz uses all three mounting points, where the Hipshot just uses the two back ones. Although the Babicz is quite the contraption, it’s pretty easy to work with once you’ve done it the first time.

Yep, looking forward to seeing how that will look. Only the rings on the natural one are screwed in (by previous owner), the ones on the classic white one are double stick tape and the screw heads are held in with clear epoxy. This is the way I’ll do the 95 and the other burst one as well. Although I don’t intend on ever selling any of these, and I definitely prefer the look with the rings, I just can’t bring myself to screw the rings into these, just in case.

Might just upgrade my 3 point to a babicz down the line too xD nothing wrong with the setup on it, but if i can get my bird to be the one & ultimate might as well xD.

On a note of Gemini pickups, sadly they haven't had a source for black nickel covers in several years, & due to such little demand, he saw no point. But, he does offer the Doninator, Devastator, & Degenerate in black soapbar formats which come in two different covers for 4 string basses (emg or alembic).

Dominator bass soapbar, 4 or 5 string, alnico 8, vintage tone

I wonder what's the point of selling black nickel rings, then.
