Thunderbird Club

OMG this thread is massive... I've been on it several times over the years but never noticed; I recently decided to read it all the way through (having just did that very same thing with the 'portaflex' thread), and thought "1300 pages, ok, that will take awhile..." NO! no no no no... 13 THOUSAND pages!!!!! LOL
You could get through War and Peace faster than you can this thread.

These BaCH basses - I only recent found this forum/club and there are many things that have, no doubt, been covered previously but I know nothing about these instruments and they look just the ticket!! Is this actually a brand or a club member's project? A single pup 'Bird with the bridge/tailpiece combo, droolworthy indeed!
You’re close. As I understand it, the BaCH project sprung from discussions in the Dude Pit, a now defunct forum. Rob van den Broek, the author of The Gibson Bass Book | An Illustrated Tribute by Rob van den Broek, was instrumental in getting BaCH to build them. There were three small runs of 30 each circa 2009-2010, so they’re rare. The idea was to build a non-reverse with inexpensive components that could be upgraded and keep them affordable. The necks on them are wonderful.

And look what just arrived!

Anybody here using a DOD 250? Just bought a clone or a version of it called ODD Overdrive Preamp 471. I use it as a booster to drive the always-on Digitech Tone Driver which provides my basic "lightly dirty" tone. On it's own the ODD sounds a bit too harsh to my liking but stacked with the Tone Driver it works very well.

I'm a DOD 250 user, it kicked a need for any other type of overdrive on my bass rig. I have the first reissue run of 2013 (yellow sparkle). Like it so much in fact, i bought a 2nd reissue version, & an eartgquaker devices Gray Channel (which is having 2 250s, non stackable, but 5 different clipping options).

My bass board's pretty much complete, just missing power supply & cables. Ill post a picture sometime, but signal is tc electronic Ditto looper > ernie ball vol jr > radial d.i. > mxr 10 band eq > mxr bass d.i. + > Gray Channel > dod 250 > boss dd5 delay > tc electronic thunderstorm flanger.

The EQ keeps my signal the same when switching basses, bass di + is my low gain dirt, gray channel's red side is set on LED which acts as power tube driven, green side is SILicon which is the more driven/distorted. I use the Dod 250 as a boost up to fuzzing up the signal - great controlled chaos xD

If i can get a sounddemo up, i'll be sure to share here :D

Well, I've done what we all hate to admit. (No, not that.) I had a set of strings not in a package and I'm not sure what they are and could use a little help. I can't find a package that doesn't have a set in them, so far. For any color challenged, two brass ball ends and one black (D) and one white (A).

They’re likely Dunlops.

Thanks. That would explain why I can't figure them out. They would have had to come on a bass at some point as I have never bought a set.
My co-favorite (with the SIT Power Steels) Dunlop stainless steel Marcus Miller Superbrights have that ball end pattern. I love them. You and I have different tone preferences so they may not be your cup of tea.

This lovely NR 5-string, very interested to get a bridge/tailpiece in order to build myself a 5, is this part available aftermarket or is it Lull's own, and do they sell their parts?

I'm certain Hipshot makes the parts for Lull, but neither will sell them separately.

I was having a blue day............
if you can find one, a BaCH Non Reverse is a must! I have to say this one was very reasonably priced, needed some better parts to make it a real player.
