Thunderbird Club

Something from last night, this is from the first set using the 64II, I haven't put new strings on it as it's sounded good at home, but I'm thinking it's time for a new set of Nickel Rounds.

Sounds great!

Been working on a new bass build.
A Thunderbird IV in the shape of a (long scale) EB-0

Almost ready for staining and finishing:

Nice! Wish I could buy one in the states.

Congratulations!

Many of us like the VP/60’s bridge and tailpiece. I’d be hesitant to change it.

It has been a long time since anyone mentioned intonation issues with one. And that was usually with the E string if heavier gauge strings were used. Your D saddle looks to be way back from the normal position. Is that your main issue? That bridge shouldn’t be an issue with standard 45-105 strings.

I would loosen all the strings and make sure there is no string twisting going on. And make sure there is no binding at the nut. If there is, a little graphite in the slots could help. Try that first. Then reset the saddles so they look like this:

Then adjust the intonation of each string from there.

Once dialed in, you’ll love the Thunderbird.

mine needs a bit more intonation range but it’s close as is with 105/45 EBCFs.

There are fake sites on the net where they grab pics from anywhere (Reverb, eBay, Pinterest) and create fake listings. Some are very obvious because the price is too good to be true, or they are listing an item that is discontinued. Another red-flag is a page of different items for nearly the same price. Run away.
What is troubling is that it came up on Ken’s Shopify.

Nice crowd! Sounds great! I prefer her voice over your previous singer. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but guitar needs to turn up a bit.

I had one; also a '95. Sounded pretty good, but I just couldn't quite "make friends" with it. I'm not sorry I bought it. I'd wanted one from the first time I saw one. If I'd never bought it, I'd still be hankerin' for one. I've got my low B's covered with my LPB2/5. And it's mahogany(w/a flamed maple top).
