Whats the thickness of these pickups? Since i'm opting to get these for my own epiphone bird, i've a hunch i'll need to add a block/shim of wood in the original deep cavities. & might as well add them in now, since Sadly, i've some extensive fixes to do on my bird (crack in the body on the treble side wing, Clear coat finish cracking as well near the raised section & headstock. a friend from my old shop had done the clear work, & it did turn out nice, though started cracking/chipping away maybe a few months after it was done -.-) anyway, i'm doing a lot of work to get the bird in proper form, some reclear, repaint, wood work.

Quoting myself, as i've actually just placed an order for two Gibson RI chrome Bird pickups. Should arrive in a couple of weeks, which i should have the body of my bird at least close to being refurb'd paint wise & clear wise. They're gonna be sweet!

I find that some pickups have slight hints of caramel, often with a smokiness in the upper ear that finishes with a nuttiness like almonds (and other silly things).
lol…no joke, I’ll be hanging out with those types soon enough…..off to Sicily to my uncles farm on the 15th to help with the first press…..

I don’t know the thickness, but I’m pretty sure that they are the same dimensions as the 760’s that came out of my VP.

That is almost as bad as Ginger vs Mary Ann. Let the fight begin and, hopefully, no banishments to the wood pile.

I’m going with Lovie Howell, that’s where the money is at, more Tbirds for me (even if they are made from bamboo and coconut shells and played through a transistor radio).
