Sweetwater has the Ampeg PF500 for $299 with the bag. Good deal for someone wanting an inexpensive head. Ampeg PF-500 500-watt Portaflex Bass Head

Since I just looked at the 6, seems like a lot of work compared to roughly the same price for the V8. The only question I would have is the weight? If the V8 significantly changes the weight distribution...front and rear suspension and brakes (all discs now) done….now in the process of deciding whether to shave the head, add Webers and stay with the stock 6 or put the 3500 (all aluminum Buick based) Rover V8 (as in the TR-8) in there……currently, candidates for final paint are BRG or Maranello red…… may enter the GT class at Laguna…..

Don’t recall those Buick/rover 215s being much heavier. Bet you could find the weight listings though. Got a little sibling to keep my Epi-bird company

This body style lends itself to guitar great. I wear my instruments high, and with the thunder/firebird body style I can rest my arm on the body and the neck angle is the same as in seated between the legs position, very comfortable, especially for guitar. I’ve always sold any guitar I’ve gotten in the past because I don’t have a guitar rig, but I finally got an HX Stomp so I got this firebird along side it to get up to speed on guitar. It feels and sounds great just like the T-bird. Epiphone knocked it out the park with these
Don’t forget the coffin caseThey are really nice guitars, my husband has three of them, one like yours, an Olive green and this Joe Bonamassa Sig.........Which I really like.

Go with the V8! If for no other reason than the sound! A cool little Triumph with a v8 seems like it would just be the coolest looking/sounding thing ever.

So are you doing a full restoration on it? BRG is always good but the red is good too.

I always liked the mustard-colored one

that V8 came is some (rare) MG-Bs…..

it’s lighter than the 6 since it’s all aluminum, (Buick wanted a light powerplant for economy models aimed at seniors) so there’s that.:…thing is, I really dig the balance (and sound) of a high performance 6…. it becomes a Cobra vs E-Type kinda debate….

$$$$$
it says it was owned by Johnny Winters, so probably explains the high price
That’s really disappointing about the RexBird. I really love the look with the gold hardware and pickups. What has happened with the quality of Gibson products lately?I have an unexpected update on my RexBird, you will need to zoom in but there's a clearly visible issue with the neck:

So on top of the pickups being installed without even dipping into wax (already conceded and agreed by Gibson) now the neck is moving so badly there's a crack all the way through the finish that I found because I could feel it - then I looked and it's easy to see where the stress cracks were before it actually shifted enough to fully crack through. The shop have agreed to replace it. I'm waiting on time spans and for Gibson to clear up the issue with my having the original p'ups potted into covers (both the Gibson Rep over here and the shop told me I could keep them). I wish I could exert more pressure as there's a very appealing NR in the UK Mod shop I would exchange it for. Who knows. But I would not recommend anyone else on here buys a RexBird unless it's a year or two in the future so any timber issues have shown up already!
This is the Mod shop NR - they call the finish Guac-n-Roll!
