"Railway Special" was registered as a trademark on 24 December 1939. At introduction in late 1940, it was advertised boldly as "America's finest and most accurate railroad watch." It was also the last railroad watch, made and certified after others went out of production in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The Hamilton 992 and 992B may be the most popular railroad watches ever made.

Tim Bogert, Jack Bruce, Jack Cassidy, John Entwistle, JPJ, Paul McCartney and Bill Wyman for me. There were others but those were who I was first aware of. Until then I was drawn to the bass-lines in songs - not really knowing or caring who played them.

I knew a few people male & female then who adapted the "Bowie look" - henna, blond & black were of the few colours people dyed their hair then. No pink, green, blue or purple yet.

My Grandfather’s watch. I think the case is known as a hunting case? It has opening covers both sides.

It’s an American Waltham which was a common watch in those days I believe.
I need to get the mainspring replaced.

My Czech grandpa (mom's father) was a conductor for Union Pacific RR.
