So when I get to the end of the rainbow, what color will the Tbird be?
Morning rainbow, pretty rare

..most components had some kind of color code by way of dots or stripes originally and up to about 40 years ago when small print became cheaper….if any component retained color codes it would be (some) resistors…in the picture, none of the colors mean anything with exception of the resistors on top…

Thanks for filling one of my many voids of knowledge. Likely saved me from death if I ever decided to built an amp. I would pick all the colors to match or at least coordinate.

(Me building an amp is never going to happen. Changing pre tubes is about as far as I can go.)

I prefer animals over most people. Present company excepted.

Reminds me of "Spunky," a calf my wife raised when young because the mother died. She was a Charolais, however, My FIL kept her around though she had very few offspring because she was more like a (costly) pet. She lived long enough I got to meet her. He treated all of them well and was furious if anyone didn't take care of their animals. They must have known it because they loved to be around the family even if no food was involved.

I used to go fishing on the farm, and at one pond they would come up and stand behind me and watch while I fished. First time it unnerved me. They eased up behind me and I didn't know they were there. I turned around and about 30 cows that were in that field all came over and were watching me, from about 20 ft away. City boy was a little concerned the first time.

The crazy thing is today’s electronic components are so tiny you can’t even laser imprint a value on them let alone color stripes so the SMD component placement machines read the value before dropping them on the PCB. Capacitors vary in color but once again the component placement machine reads the capacitance value. Example:

Skynet is real…machines making machines! This technology is in all modern gear. The next step is esoteric designs where components are manufactured right into the PCB traces!
a Bosch factory (now Mercedes) in Alabama I used to visit even had robots replenishing the pick and place machines....and this was over 15 years ago!....

Hey hey! Never say never...
I posted because I wanted to get across how cool the fact that you can buy a component kit that would bring an anemic PCB based tube amp such as the high production 7ender Blues Deville to life, but I didn't do a good job explaining...
