..most components had some kind of color code by way of dots or stripes originally and up to about 40 years ago when small print became cheaper….if any component retained color codes it would be (some) resistors…in the picture, none of the colors mean anything with exception of the resistors on top…

And on the resistors, it’s the stripe colors that talk to you. Different mfrs may use different body colors for the same type (e.g., carbon film) resistor.
Chuck, did you ever deal with the old flat caps with dots to show value?

Where yat @Chucky Stiletti ?

yes, almost looked hand dotted….on old radios…..apparently being colorblind was a real handicap in the electronic world back then..

Yup. Sometimes I’d use a flashlight and magnifying glass on faded or dark background caps, to be sure of the colors.

The crazy thing is today’s electronic components are so tiny you can’t even laser imprint a value on them let alone color stripes so the SMD component placement machines read the value before dropping them on the PCB. Capacitors vary in color but once again the component placement machine reads the capacitance value. Example:

Skynet is real…machines making machines! This technology is in all modern gear. The next step is esoteric designs where components are manufactured right into the PCB traces!

Thank you for the reference-

Don't know what website gave me the 6T figure- I checked a couple of others and it looks my girl ought to be wearing a 14T (tall), she is a big girl - though her hips measure an inch smaller and the waist five inches smaller than the specs listed that size on this website -

I was wondering when suddenly a glimmer of common sense- could it be that there's a bit of slack needed?

One of my dock neighbors was a big IPA fan- kept a 72 qt icebox full that I would alternately pinch from and replenish during the week until he returned for the weekend-

Hazy IPA and Karbach Weekend Warriors were among his favorites- various types of Sculpin as well-

Then there were a few others- some of which I would bring as an alternative-
