Thunderbird Club

I love your blue BaCH!

I was playing mine with the Gibson reissue pickup on Sunday and am so happy to have it. I still need to have Jeremy @Freekmagnet in Fillmore extend the pickup route a tad so the pickup can be lowered a bit. It sounds great, but it needs to go down about 2mm or so and it’ll be perfect. Just need to arrange a time to meet up with him.

I don't think it's worth fixing. I think I would be happy with it as is....since it's not really optimal and all....:smug:

I love that bass.

Hi all, I'm getting back into playing bass after a 20ish-year hiatus and a couple of years realizing I don't like the guitar. I picked up an Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird in the burst color, but I need a case. I really like the looks of the Gibson Thunderbird hard case, brown with a red interior, but I have received conflicting reports on whether the bodies are the same or close enough that it would work. I teach special education and will keep the bass at school to enrich classes for these students, so I need a hard case to try and protect it as long as possible.

I found those, too; I just really like the colors on the Gibson... I will probably end up just going the Epiphone case route in the long run. Are the bodies different between the brand lines?

Even though I have managed to get a VP to fit into a Gibson case I don't recommend it, it's not a great fit as the Epi really is shaped differently than a Gibson, especially the lowere 'bout.

Doing some quick sound checks through the board before I go- she sounds great!

Haven’t done much tweaking that’s what knobs are sitting at for now-

Triads made easy with the Xtender I added-

Need to write down the model Hercules single stand- quite a bit taller than mine-

As you can see, there’s plenty of room at the bottom, and I believe it still has a way to go up-

Dang that is nice looking in so many ways! Plus I love your play room...

Others will need to chime in about body-shape differences, but I have one of the brown/fuchsia Gibson HSC and I prefer the Epi. It's tapered, lighter to carry and the form-fit is where the protection lives.

My brown Gibson case has a satin fuchsia shroud, some don't have it. It always make me think of a coffin... :)

I usually use one of the lighter Epi cases and lately I’ve been using the really beat up one that came with the white Epi Custom Shop (you put the new feet on it for me). I’m pretty sure ATK or
My 2015 Gibson has a smaller lower rear horn. I don't have a Gibson case, but I would suspect a fitment issue putting a VP into a Gibson case. The opposite isn't true.
I did a post thousands of pages ago. My VP does nor fit properly in the ‘15’s case.

And thus the migration begins- I like this migratory bird!

For now it’ll be mated either with the board direct - via these pedals-

Wait. You’re a landlubber now? The only other person I know who lived on a boat was my brother during his first two year stint living in Gothenburg. He bought a 28 footer when he got there and stayed on it a lot of the time, although he also had a tiny company issued studio apartment where he stayed when it got too cold.

Perfect, thanks for all the input. I'm off to order the Epiphone one, then!

I'm guessing doing a deposition while well hydrated is not a good idea. But sure sounds like it would be fun to watch. You might word some questions the way you really want for a change. Hopefully your evening and weekend will be great.
I pretty much do them in my sleep. 36 years. Thousands of them. Although I still prep for every one. I really need to pack it in.

Back in 1979 I had a 1973 AMX with a 360cuin engine. Fun car, pretty well bloated like most the other muscle cars in the early 70’s, and subsequently not as fast and tossable as Chucks. I still love the Gen 1 AMX the most, and in that Gen I like the snorkel hood the least. Chucks is at the sweet spot for me, even more so if he has the Go Pack option.
Not mine, but pretty much identical in color and options…

Yours looked nice. And pre ‘74 era bumpers which pretty much ruined cars for the next decade or so.

I have a beautiful 2013EB 5 string that plays wonderfully. It has the same general vibe as the 2015 Tbird. Alas, it’s a 5 string which is becoming more difficult for me to play due to my arthritis. Love the sound of it though.
Fortunately, my left hand is fine. The arthritis is only in the right fourth and fingers, and that is due to a break forty years ago. As I think you know, I’m wanting an electric fiver now that I’ve realized having the low B is so much fun. And that is all thanks to the Breedlove. The adjustment from 4 to 5 and back has been surprisingly easy. Let me know if you are thinking of passing it along. A USA Gibson with the DeColas would be a perfect fit.
