That’s a very nice looking Greco and one of the best years as well! Price is about on par with the current market which is a couple hundred bucks more than I’d like to pay but still fair considering the competition.

I got my 1977 Greco II bird with the original hard case and all the original case candy for under $1000 a couple years ago. I just find it hard to swallow that these basses have increased almost 50% in price in such a short period. But then again, that’s nothing compared to the increase in price of a vintage Gibson Tbird in the last few years. Guess its a sellers market for vintage gear right now.

I think sellers follow here. We need to stop talking about them so publicly.

My thoughts exactly. What type of magnets are really in the can? The other Epi bass pickups of the same general type have exposed pole pieces front and back, same as the LP guitar pickups, save for the number of pole pieces. Maybe Marshall wants to let you desolder the back of his to see what's inside.

LOL - on the destructive testing approach. There’s always magnetic viewing film that would reveal pole or blade layout under the cover. I’ve been meaning to get some for my 2015 DeCola pup bird to help visualize the massiveness of the magnetic field these pickups have.

When I bought mine it was $675. When I let it go I was having hand problems, which turned out to be a pinched nerve in my neck. That slightly chunky Greco neck was giving me trouble (numbness) in the lower positions. Of course once I got all that figured out and healed It wouldn't be a problem. So I keep an eye out but I'd be shocked to find one for less than $1000 and happy to pay that.

I've never stood by the drummer, I've always had my own microphone and stood on the front line, doing limited vocals and a lot of harmonies, plus some repartee. No tinnitus after 40 years of practice and gigging. In smaller practice areas I wore Eargasms until we got an electronic drum kit.

Really, my point is, why hang out by the drummer? At least stand ahead of them if you can.

Same, picked mine up with OHSC for $700, wish they were still in that range. Luckily the Grecobackers are still around that.

How about Stainless Saturday?? I decided to mess around and change out a few parts on a couple of my Birds. I pulled the stainless guard and truss rod cover off my Goth rebuild and added them to my BlackBird. Doesn't look too bad!

I paid too much for my 75 IbanRic, but it is a time machine, just like the 66 KB-1 I paid too much for and for and a few dollars more than the Ibanez… but both are not a regrettable purchase…

I got a good enough deal on my decola equipped EB4 that it offsets and financially related disparity.

I think the universe is trying to tell me something, the last couple new instruminks, have had chromes on them, then a stainless ain’t they?
