Thunderbird Club

Honestly, I didn't know if it's just mine or what but it doesn't sound at all like what I was expecting it to and I can't get that sound out of it. Lol. But it does sound very nicely and has an old school character to it. If you're on IG you can go see a video of it I just posted. (@Rickplaysbass)
Thanks. I'll check it out. I know there are lots of pickup choices for Sereks. What does yours have? Hondo Felder, whose videos I love, did a bunch of pedal demos in the past with one and it sounded fantastic.

If you could only keep five of them, which would they be and why?
Over the last 12 months I purchased (or built)…
Blue BaCH IV - absolute keeper
Eastwood Ampeg Scroll type fretless - my only fretless so probably a keeper
Epiphone Silver Goth - mod platform for a four pickup test, not necessarily a keeper
Rosser based body build - wenge neck with a mahogany NR body to compete with my Gibby NR, will keep the better of the two
Rosser based body build - my “what would Fender build if they wanted to dethrone a Gibby Tbird”, will keep if it’s successful
White Epiphone CP - hard to find model with the “proper” neck pup placement - a keeper
Fender Modern Player Telecaster - the donor bass for the second Rosser - will part out if the Rosser test is successful.
Dingwall DBird - pre DRoc body - rare and a keeper
Acasia NR Bird - rare custom shop (maybe only a few made) just dropped a East preamp in it - a keeper
Epiphone NR PJ Tbird - not particularly hard to find or ultra rare, but unique sounding - not necessarily a keeper
Epiphone Embassy - donor for the first Rosser build - will sell mint husk

There ya have it - 11 purchases in the last 12 months and 5 are certainly keepers. The other six may or may not stay depending on different variables.

Sorry, I mean of ALL your basses. :)

I really dig my Modern Player Tele Bass...I just can't find a group it fit's in with...my Gibsons/Epiphones and or 7ender Jazz Bass are much better. In fact, P-type basses in general never work well. I have several and enjoy playing them, just never seem to fit in w/ what we do...guess I'll just use THIS

Singapore Air, KLM and Emirates were always my favorites for international travel.
American Airlines and any of the budget Airlines like Jet Blue and Southwest were my least favorite for domestic travel. Delta for Domestic has always worked very good for me. Buy your ticket as early as you can and get the most upgraded seat you can afford for best results.
Thanks. Good info.

You have my sympathy.;)

LOL - I guess everything is for sale at the right price.
Come on by Ken, I’m sure you’ll find a number of treasures you’ll love, unfortunately no lefties. Seems like every time Marshall comes over, he leaves with another one of my basses. All to a great home for sure!

Came for the basses, stayed for the bourbon.

That Tbird bass is a killer!
The Modern Player Tele was always my favorite Fender and the last Fender in my collection I still regularly played. But I love the Tbird ergos and look so much more. Made perfect sense to me to build a Tbird NR body Fender Modern player tele. I’m calling it a ThunderCaster. As a modern player tele owner you know full well how deep and loud these things are capable of playing, mine will hands down walk all over every Tbird I own including my Grecos. I can’t wait to finish the build, hopefully in time for the GTG.

Got plenty of top notch Bourbon waiting for your visit! Come on by, we’ll have a SoCal social.
Maybe even run down to the Scripps in San Diego or up to the Monterey Aquarium near Chucky. My treat!

I will be sure to have some nice Bourbon on hand. :)

Yep, all Bourbon is Whiskey, but not all Whiskey is Bourbon. It’s all in the grain.
Edit: if you live in Florida, it’s all in the peanut butter.

Hard pass!

The PG is white, the bass is yellow. I don't know what it is about this color, on other things like old Chevys or Plymouths I don't like it at all - on this bass I love it.

Mine is the standard option two Serek singles sandwiched next to each other. I may just redo the whole harness to see. I've seen all the videos on YouTube of them. Hondo is killer. I was just expecting to be able to get more grind out of it. Obviously not Justin chancellor on a Wal, but that kind of Idea and mine is much much darker. I played a grabber that kinda got that pick grind growl but Even fresh rounds on this guy don't quite have enough zing to me.

That said, it's wearing flats currently and has a killer tone. Almost like a more modern vintage P. Lolol. Hard to explain.

And it plays and feels FANTASTIC. If I was gonna drop some $$$ on a new high end bass, either Jake or Spencer Lull would be the ones taking my money.

I have half a mind to open the body routing on it and slam two Tbird pickups right next to each other.
