Thunderbird Club

The cousin that has Chrysler with a 440 in offered a similar experience. No way to replicate it, but it was cool hearing all those barrels open up and suck in the air, in addition to the engine itself.
The 1954 TR-2 I had made those intake noises. It had two SU carbs, and when you opened them up, they would hiss in a very satisfying way. The car wasn't at all quick by modern standards, but it sure made all the right sounds and smells.

didn't it feel glorious?.....
Me and one of my Buddies were recently talking about those old muscle cars and how they felt so fast. The thing about the 60's cars if you were going 75MPH+ the engine and intake with the loud exhaust, wind noise, steering and handling, you knew you were going fast.
I have a Honda Accord VTEC V6 that is really fast for a smaller engine but now when I'm going 75MPH+ the wind, road noise, handling are all quieter and feels more stable. Half the time I don't even realize I'm speeding until I look at the Speedometer...or my wife tells me! lol

You think that Honda's is bad about that? I had a Honda ST1300 (Sport Touring motorcycle with full fairing and damn near sofa comfortable seating) I was heading home on back highways and glanced at my speedo.... 153. OOOOOOOOOPPPPSSS. I sold that bike a week later. Lol

new cars are VERY fast...
my son calls it "new" fast vs "old" fast, their (his and his buddy's) Bimmers are truly scary fast...
that said, NOWHERE near as much fun to drive...

Absolutely! A new Camry is faster than my Nova SS from high school was. We all know which one most of us would rather drive though.

Word. Heck, my twin turbo truck seems quicker and faster than my old 70s Plymouth hotrod and Cordoba with a 400 in it. That and the Expedition Limited are shocking to drive. The truck makes cool noises when you hit it as well..... more so that the Expi with the same engine.
Don't laugh, but this beast is no slouch even at well over over 5k lbs. My wife gunned it once going around a corner when someone came out of nowhere and scared her to death. With all that weight, tires don't spin easily, they grab and you go.

You Ford truck guys. We had a ‘98 Navigator. Hands down the worst vehicle we ever owned. Had to tow it to the Honda dealer in ‘05 to trade it for a Pilot. It didn’t make it to 100k. The 4 wheel drive was good in the snow though.
