Thanks for the options. It probably won't happen for a few months but as good as the pickups sound, I really want some high quality replacements with the chrome covers. So much secks!

Ok its early and I may very well be out of context being but a few beers in but anyway.....I once saw a thread by a woman here on TB titled "moving to 2 fingers"..................and..... Im out!.
I thought the whole point of this club was that there was no context. That's why I love it.

I hit some kind of large bird on my street, on the way to work at 5:30 am yesterday. I think it's ok...
Was it this one?

God dammit I love this stupid Thunderbird. It's really perfect but I'm seriously considering dropping some aftermarket pickups in it. My initial thought are Lull's. I've heard them in person. Huge, ballsy, and pure rock and roll sex. Of course they are also 5 bills...what are some other good options?

Here are some tones on my 2014 Thunderbird with Lollar pickups to add to the pile..this was from way back in the thread and think you were still out of town.

Here is a sample.

Recorded on a Tascam DR-05
Amp: Peavey Combo 300 Solid State: 15" Speaker: EQ totally flat
Strings: Ernie Ball Slinky Round wound 105-50
Played with a .73 Tortex Pick
Order:
Neck + Full Tone
Neck + Tone all the way down
Bridge + Full Tone

Both+ Full Tone

For real Count?
You wouldn't joke about something like that.

I hope it's ok too.
Actually yeah, I stopped to get out and look around, but he was gone. There were two of them, mates maybe. I guess he got an earful for hanging around in the road and being slow.... when I couldn't find them I hoped for the best. I wasn't tearing down a main road, I was right in the neighborhood, going slow-ish.

I hate the sound of a Jazz, I didnt know much about them until I bought a real beautiful one and no matter how I modded it I still hated it and that is the very reason I ended up with my first Thunderbird, I put out an ad to trade for a Thunderbird and a guy at a music shop gave me a brand new one straight up. I never even really considered a Thunderbird I just new I had to get rid of the Jazz. My Thunderbird is all I play out of my 4 basses.

I read once that the Thunderbird is Gibson's Jazz Bass. That threw me a bit. Why? Two pickups?

I like the look of Jazzes, but there is just something about them that I don't quite gel with. Dunno.

Mind you when I watch YouTube 'n basses compared' videos, I tend to like all the Gibson basses, and P basses and occasionally a Ric if one is included. But really not the Js. Or Js last anyway.

I really haven't put my finger on it as yet, but it doesn't worry me either. I just know now which pond(s) to fish in.

What's it cost to have a bass body painted? My Goff has a lot of flat black paint on it, and I was pondering sanding it down to bare wood, sealing it and having it shot in some sort of obnoxious metal flake. I have room to sand it but maybe not paint it, and my time finishing guitars proved to me that I'm not very good at it. Music Central is putting the bridge Kat sent me in place of the Supertone since the damn ferules keep pulling out of the body. Guess they don't like being tuned to Drop C.
Why sand it to bare? Couldn't they just rub it back a bit, put undercoat on it and then the fancy colour?
Use the Matt black as a base and move on from there?
