Played at a different church this morning. It was silent stage except the bass position - which had a kickback amp for bass monitor and some other speaker for everything else. When I first plugged into the Tone Hammer at rehearsal the other night, it sounded glorious except the lowest notes doubled in volume over the others. I had to back off the bass and low mids; I need to find out what their usual bassist plays. Clearly it doesn’t have the low end of a Greco Thunderbird!

41 years for me. And I used to be an adequate speaker/reader having taken German for two years in college. I’m still ok watching German shows and movies; I can figure it out. But it’s sad I didn’t do more with it.

Yeah, funny enough, I think your right, the market has almost caught up with it, though without more info I'd still be wary at that price. The bass has certainly been repainted (couldn't say whether nitro or poly), they could not definitively say whether or not there was a headstock break, pickup should be the original, and newer wiring. Could never get a straight answer to whether it came with the original pickup cover either.

At what price would it become a no-brainer for you?

Replaced the Equinox?

the Equinox went away about 4 years ago when I left GE, it was a company car…I used a Suburban we have in the interim until it overheated, and lost compression in a cylinder..

I'm not a 'father' and honestly don't recall 'father's day' growing up - mostly 'mother's day'. The day our father shared with us as brothers (me and my just older brother) was on Thanksgiving day in November. It was in the midwest and cold, and he'd take us to a local river to shoot bottles/cans with a 22 caliber rifle. Nothing fancy - no scope etc... just a simple rifle. It was a father-son thing and I loved it and looked forward to it every year. My father was a good man and father and he died far too young (65) - I've already outlived him by 6 yrs.

can’t think of a reggae bassist who plays/played TBirds or even Gibsons….have seen them in latin ensembles though….

I saw/heard a heavy Reggae band in Chicago where the bass-player played a Yamaha BX-1 headless bass, similar to a Steinberger - deep, deep Dub.

Heaviest live reggae bass sound I ever heard was a guy playing a fretless Rickenbacker. Don't know what the amplifier was but he was running 218s. This was back in 89ish

I saw/heard a heavy Reggae band in Chicago where the bass-player played a Yamaha BX-1 headless bass, similar to a Steinberger - deep, deep Dub.

Awwww... 18" cabs. I played sublime with a DeArmond Pilot V through a Peavey 1x18 and an SWR 4x12. Does that count as reggae/dub ish???

yes - 2x18 would be the optimal choice of Reggae...
