Thunderbird Club

I use myself as the example, not necessarily @dagrev . I have found that when I have many options to consider, I consider them! When I don't, I just play and focus on the tunes.

I get its an internet chat forum and what we do is consider options and discuss them! Didn't want my want my initial post to make sound too much like a jerk.
It's not wrong though. It's why I prefer a volume and tone knob vs an entire preamp generally.

This single pickup t-bird sounds just awesome! If you want to hear the bass tone really well behind the solo, jump to 3:50 in.

Thunderbird II's!

FWIW I think that one in the video came from M&M, I recall they had a II with an autographed PG like that - JAE.

IDK, he seems to have a well defined notion of what he wants out of something. I could see myself falling into that trap at times though. Especially with my Kemper. Do I want to use a V4B? SVT? AD200? GK? Mesa? Maybe just a Noble.
Yes. Doesn't apply to me. I'm picky and on a mission/quest, and not fatigued or confused by too many options. I just want (must have) the options that sound great to me. I know what sounds great to me and I must have it.

I didn't take it that way at all. You may be one*, but not for that reason!

*Aren't we all at times.

Sounds like you need to get a Thunderfunk or similar amp with a timbre control (or maybe a stomp box with a similar timbre function) to quickly adjust to room dynamics. See this short thread for more info…

It’ll make pretty much any bass sound great in any room.

Here’s its predecessor… virtually identical to the Thunderfunk

This is the most sophisticate amp I've ever owned. My rehearsal-space amp. Two, two, two amps in one! Once it was dialed for our space - I don't touch it. Output (center bottom) always at 9:00 - 'MIX' (tube & fet)* - any further volume/tone tweaking from the bass. I almost sold it recently - decided I would regret it.

*When I turn it on, it defaults to TUBE and if distracted I'll forget to change it to MIX. We'll start our rehearsal and I'll be like.., "that's not my sound"!... Oh yah - forgot to engage MIX!

Thanks for the great suggestion. I love my Ampeg head for everything else. Sounds fantastic for everything--but the NR and the '55 Pbass. I don't mind taking the little Ashdown if it will fix the NR or the '55 given it's 4lbs. I don't think I want to have a larger head to take back and forth or even leave on top of my other head. I don't think. I might consider replacing my Ampeg if I found something that worked the same magic for everything. But would hate trying to sell the big head Ampegs. If I were to find a head that really did the trick across the board, I would likely consider replacing the Ampeg--if I were equally happy with what I was hearing. But that is a very tall order.

Given the Ampeg works great most all of the time I think I would rather get rid of the offending bass than get into amp chasing. (I could get quickly addicted to that and there's no Ozempic type shot for that yet.) I'm not really sure I would spend $200 on any kind of tool that might fix what I'm hearing. I likely would if I could return it if it didn't help much. But I don't want something else that likely helps some but didn't really fix my issue (which is cause by pickups being above the sweet spot and closer to the neck).

I love the looks for those. I would have one of those as well if I let the disease get the best of me. I would likely have 15 heads if I let my inner stupidity take over. No offense to anyone with that many amps. Just in my situation it makes no sense to my inner adult.

Personally, I completely relate.
If I were gigging, I’d have a spare/back up. That’s about it.
It’s always great to have options.
But having options just to have options.
Does not compute.
