Thunderbird Club

Does anyone have links to the history of the thunderbird bass? I've always been a fender guy so I want to learn as much as possible about Tbirds. Also trying to figure out what parts the epiphone classic pro come from. I think I read somewhere that the body is based on gibson tbirds from 1988 or something but what does that mean relative to the original design?

Here's a good starting point

I love Gibson basses, not just Thunderbirds, I highly recommend this book:

THE GIBSON BASS BOOK

Your Epiphone Classic Pro is based on the original Gibson concept: multi-ply neck through construction, it's shape is slightly modified from the Post '88 Gibson in that yours has a slightly different shape to the lower 'bout which allows better upper register access. Back when they first came out I wrote a lengthy review of the Classic, and posted it here on TB, I felt then, and still do that it's a very impressive bass for the money, in many ways better than the U.S Gibson. If Epiphone discontinues it with the advent of the new model based on Gibson's '63 later this year, I think the "Classic" will hold it's value if not increase.

I'm going to steal this, verbatim, for the inevitable conversation with my wife about buying the new Classic Pro Epiphone's coming out this summer. Hope you don't mind:)

Yes. Active electronics removed and stock bridge replaced with Cataldo bridge/tailpiece. Also from ThunderBucker Ranch

I really love this.
Very, very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know what size hex key I need to adjust the truss rod in the epiphone tbird classic?
I ain't got no Gibson type Bird, but I do have Thousands of stringed instruments at hand. There is only a few keys that work. I can get you a list of the most popular ones if yer still in need. I modify most of them shorter to fit the rod pockets better. Let me know if that will help

I have this problem since i bought my bird.
If i turn the volume knob over 8 on my bridge pickup it starts to buzzing and the volume drops down to very quiet.
It doesn't bother me so much 'cause 8 is enough most of the time and i will change my stock pickups anyway soon, but what could be the problem!?

I'd guess it's the volume pot.
