Thunderbird Club

I'm going to steal this, verbatim, for the inevitable conversation with my wife about buying the new Classic Pro Epiphone's coming out this summer. Hope you don't mind:)
Me too... we'll see how that plays, but...
Super bummer but that's a crappy packing job. I ship USPS domestically and internationally with no problems.

YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO PACK. You can't just throw a bass in a crap case, put it in a duct taped, recycled box without adequate packing materials and expect it to arrive undamaged. I doubt the shipper will be able to get paid on a claim for that abortion.

I insure all my basses for full value. I only expect to collect if the bass is lost. Verifying a properly packed shipment is a nightmare. I've had three arrive with a damaged case but only one with any damage, it was fairly slight.
Including 8 ExplorerBirds by Priority Mail with no damage, one each to Italy and Japan.

In another life my RTA furniture company was the largest UPS shipper in my county. All packaging had to be drop tested to qualify for insurance coverage. That's three times on each of the six corners from a height of 18 inches.

Welcome to the real world, hold the outrage.
If it ain't bombproof, don't send it.

I saw The Cult tonight in Brooklyn. So good. They did a surprising amount of songs from Love, a lot of Electric, two from Sonic Temple, a most-surprising Spiritwalker from Dreamtime, one from the eponymous album, and others I wasn't familiar with.

I'm jelly!
Never got to see them - I wish, way back in the days of "Sonic Temple" "Electric" and esp. "Love" (One of my all time fave albums ever!) I dig Jamie Stewart!

A little Thunderbird action here - maybe it's the last black '79!

Wow, Love is also one of my all time favorites!

Never saw that video, but Billy is playing on Broad St., a block from where I work. The NYSE is visible right up the street on the left.

Just looked it up and I've seen them seven times. First was opening for Metallica in 1989. I wish I'd seen them on the Love tour.

"Love" is likely my fave rock album ever................

"Sanctuary", it just doesn't get any better for me.

It's there in my sig, but yeah, my band had to do that song.

I saw the Cult in Sydney last year. Excellent new version of the band.

I especially liked Sweet Soul Sister.
But I was hooked from the opening power chord on the Gretsch.

I'm still "at war" with the 3point on my classic pro.

Anybody put a Fender-style high mass Bridge on a bird? is it high enough or will I have to turn the saddles all the way up and still have the strings lying on the last fret?

I would recommend getting the Babicz bridge if you are looking to replace the original. I use one on my 2014 T-bird. Bolts right on, adjustment and intonation are super easy and it improved the tone and sustain of the bass (to my ears anyway). The whole process took less than an hour.

'Love' is one of my all time favorite albums as well. Just fantastic from start to finish. Actually, when I met the Queen in Seattle he was playing Love when I got into his car.

LOL!

I'd certainly forgotten that, Andy!

My old pal from LA, Mike Dimkich, played rhythm guitar for the Cult for many years before joining Bad Religion (I have some great stories about those guys). About ten years ago, the Cult were playing, I think, at Irving Plaza here in NY. My pal, Tim, and I saw the show, which was awesome, and went next door to the 119 Bar to wait for Mike to join us for a drink. He showed up and, miraculously, we met a few girls, who were at the show, who were all super cute and very cool. All was going well...until Cult bassist, Chris shaging Wyse, strolls in looking all handsome and cocky, and totally starts chatting up the girl I was getting a drink for. I came back to the booth and she was, basically, in love with him. Like, IN LOVE. I put her drink down and he completely ignores me. I turn to Mike and said, "I hate your bassist". And he goes, "Dude, we all do. This happens every night."

Hah, that's hilarious. Not for you, of course.
