Thunderbird Club

I don't know what's become of my pantaloons................

No body likes a half naked Thunderbird. :smug:

OK, that's likely not true.

Something like that.
But he did a bit more. This is where he landed before being whisked off inland to meet the King, or a representative thereof, to arrange French aid in the War of Independence. I then the French supplied the Navy that you lacked.
Pretty big deal I think.

BTW the street the bus stop I used today was on is “Avenue du President John Fitzgerald Kennedy”, though i don’t know the connection.
He visited France and they had a parade IIRC. This is a good read .

I think De Gaulle was significantly disliked by everyone, but De Gaulle. I was aware of this before, but after reading Churchill's 6 vol history of WWII, insufferable is the term I would use, and that is being polite.

Oh, active... I can't keep track of all the variations. There are those who only use passive, others who only use active, and others still who use both. Within both camps there's variation so I can understand not liking the way a specific active, or passive bass sounds. I have a few active basses that I love the sound of but if I had to recommend an active bass that can do it all w/o sounding like a glassy active bass and w/o 20 knobs - G&L L2000 for the win.
There are only 3 "Pro" Epis that I can think of.
  • Pro = active preamp, its own thing
  • Vintage Pro = similar to the older (vintage) Gibson birds
  • Classic Pro - similar to the current Gibson birds
There are certainly other models, but these are the only ones with Pro in their names. I'm just waiting for the 60s Classic Vintage 64 Pro Reverse Non-Reverse Thunderbird in Golden Light Forest Green Fangorn Mist Metalflake, available in II, IV, VI, and VIII variants, each of which as an X version (e.g., XII) that comes with a tremolo. They'll do limited runs with extra colors available only through certain vendors such as Chevrolet. Auto brands that use dumb or boring color names will not get their own versions. I've already got dibs on the third Greco Suzi Q model (she gets the first two), and the fourth Greco Nikki M model (she gets the first two, and I slipped Marshall's name in for the third).[1]

[1] The Grecos use titanium reinforced necks and headstocks, so these are useful for bear intimidation.

Don't forget the fretless versions of each...

These guys("Off Kilter") played at EPCOT for 17 years. Lotta semi-traditional Celtic music with a rock feel plus rock songs with a Celtic feel. Sorely missed.

Hah! I briefly sold cycling kilts (easily removable w/velcro for changing out of lycra after a race the parking lot) under the name "Off Kilter". Wasn't aware of a band with that name. I still have a couple.

Well, he was known to be a lothario. 250 years. Nothing has changed.

Actually, he was instrumental in obtaining the financing from the Dutch for the Revolution. The French were intermediaries. The Dutch, being who they were, would not deal with us directly. They were also financing Britain. It’s a complex trail of follow the money. Appease both sides and make a killing.

Remember how I bought a guitar that used to belong to the shop I went to the longest and five years after it closed its doors?
Blue strat.jpg

Well, last week I replaced the black pickguard of that guitar with a white one.

Which REALLY brought out its color, but I also noticed that that original pickguard was decked completely in shielding foil at the back.

But to my surprise, that also unlocked the instrument's hidden potential, I was gonna replace that Hot Rail pickup with a DiMarzio, since I found it to be a little bloodless. But without all that shielding, it sounds fat and creamy, I was blown away by how much a difference it made.

Brought it out to rehearsal today and the others were going "New guitar? Oh wait that's your blue one." and then telling me that it's my best sounding guitar.

But I might replace its neck, since I'm not really into reverse hockeystick headstocks..

also credited with bringing back culinary delights such as macaroni & cheese…

Anybody looking for a project?
This Epi Rex Brown Tbird has a detached headstock that could be repaired. Or it would make a good donor body:

I wonder what happened to the untapped DeColas.
