Thunderbird Club

Great choice! Love mine.
As noted, be extra careful when buying a Classic Pro, many are incorrectly listed that way but in fact are not CPs.

Case in point on Guitar Centers used website right now…

This is not a CP, it’s a standard Epiphone tbird IV

This one is also mis marked…

It’s a VP not a CP, totally different beast.

This one, also on the Guitar Centers used website website, is a CP…

The quickest way to spot a CP is to look for an Eppi Tbird with a three point bridge but no front mounted jack. The CP jack is mounted on the side. The other tell is the lack of a neck plate on the back of the CP, it’s a neck through design not a bolt on.
Those GC prices for those mislabeled birds are a joke. You can get a new standard bolt-on from SW today for $449.00. And $799 for a used VP? Give me a break.

Well, there is at least one more brand on a Tbird.
Legacy, which may or may not be an Epiphone sub brand.
In Australia at least sold cheap electric guitars and basses. Plus a rebranded Epiphone Valve Junior 5 watt guitar amp.

My Nephew had or has a Legacy “Classic Collection” Thunderbird. No belly cut type shaping, square edged like a Tbird IV. Pickups are Select “designed by EMG” and it has a built in tuning system. You pull up one of the speed knobs and pluck a string. One light says out of tune and two lights for in tune. (From memory).

Love the on-board tuner! Is is sold separately? And I was going to ask what was going on with the three lights imbedded in the back of the body before I realized it was a reflection of a ceiling lamp! :woot:

Wonder why this one reads "Bad"......

Correction: they're neck-through, not set neck.
Good catch. I’ve corrected my original post, thx.

The Wiki says 2013 was the year.

2014 Epiphone CP : 10 1/8", 14 7/16"

2013 Epiphone CP : 10 15/16", 14 3/4"
As best as I can recall, all the unique CPs I’ve seen were 2012 models. According to the serial number that’s what mine is as well. The WIKI may need to be updated if that’s true.

Actually yes.
Search on “N-Tune” but so far I can only see kits for single coil guitar pickups. The N-Tune comes as a replacement pot evidently.
I made my own on-board tuner but that one is stealthier.

I think from the Internet, those are somehow affiliated with Tokai? They certainly aren’t licensed. But can maybe get away with it in OZ?

Other than BaCHs, I’m not much of a fan of unlicensed copies. And BaChs are unique in that Gibson made no sign of reissuing any NRs when the demand was there, albeit small, but vocal.

Maybe, but I don’t think so as all the Tokai ones I’ve seen are badged “Tokai Legacy” not just Legacy.
BTW OZ isn’t any different in regard to copyright laws. We ain’t China you know!

Thanks a lot for ur advices, will try to get a Classic in good shape.
Best community by far!
There is a slight downside to the people here. They have zero issues in assisting spending your money on more Thunderbirds. I've fallen for their tricks several times. Be careful, they are experts. ;)
