The V is very cool. Are those custom pickguards I spy? Do you make those?

Poor old platypuses are endangered these days. They used to (before my time) be plentiful. My Dad’s Grandma out in the bush had a rug made of platypus pelts, which would land you in gaol these days. She used to wrap it around her legs when driving the sulky - to stop mud and other stuff that the horses would fling up as they trotted along. She also had a euchre kit made from a Clydesdales hoof. Didn’t waste much in those days!

More recently, the AFL announced a new team would be added based in Tasmania and it would be named the Devils. Warner Brothers tried it on for trademark violation! :D
(The Tasmanian Devil is a native animal in Tasmania, not a WB cartoon invention!)

Can someone with both a TB and FB compare the body sizes? I see things on the net claiming they're the same and claiming they're not.

I've been playing for 19 years and I've never put any special whiz-bang juice on my fingerboards. My dad's cheapo Korean strat from the 80's similarly has never been conditioned and while its pot metal bridge has come apart, the fingerboard remains uncracked. I make a point of not playing with dirty hands and keeping the instrument from getting wet or getting left in extreme temperatures. Maybe I'll learn the hard way, maybe it's all marketing, I dunno.

I do know that commercial furniture polishes should be avoided, and would suggest you only use things designed for open grain wood, preferably designed for use on guitars. Note that things like lemon oil polishes say they're safe for any sealed wood.

That's the only 7 I've seen. The neck, other than the headstock, on my PRO 5 was 5 ply. The body center bockk and most of the headstock were 7. I had the impression that construction was done specifically to show off the wood under the oil and trans finishes.

The low oxygen copper, super shielded, high performance power cord was one that amused me. Line voltage is line voltage. What's between the wall outlet and the amp isn't going to change what's coming from the grid and getting to the wall outlet. But hey, for a brazillion dollars, you can have the highest spec power cord on the planet.

I loved the way my PRO 5 looked. Um ... I really liked the Hipshot bridge I put on it. The tuners were OK. But the neck (ugh) and the pickups/preamps (meh)? Nope.

Have you seen the little lathe that cuts a chamfer on your CD's to stop the laser from bouncing around and causing noise in the digital data stream?

I suppose it depends on how you count the plies. I count the outer two plies, but I can see why you wouldn't. They don't project through most of the neck, just a little of the headstock and all of the neck-through part.

Mine was murky vintage sunburst before it got refinished. The poly was thick enough to survive nuclear war. It's been stripped and refinished, but they left the back of the neck mostly unfinished, fading the green out at the heel and then back in at the headstock. It's wasn't something I asked them to do and wasn't expected, but I'm sure glad they did it. It's very different looking. The back of the neck is shot clear, so it's not like the oil finish on the one you had. It looks similar.
