Thunderbird Club

I won't feel guilty when I play my others however I feel this is going to be a permanent edition. I tried 4 or 5 other classic pros and they were all nice but his one just feels right. Odd thing to say since they're all cut by computers today. My setups going to always be the same so I don't know..it does feel better than the others.

So I'm out of pocket for a few days and find a couple of my club friends are quitting smoking. Good on you guys.

And I missed a chance to get a gold anniversary edition. I would have gone for it; the wrath of she who must be obeyed be damned (she always gets over it).

And HouseUmbrella isn't happy with the tone of his Classic. Here's a thought: House should sell the Classic to JJR58 and put the proceeds toward a used Gibby 2015. That is if he can't get a tone to his liking via equing. The 2015 with the EB pickups is my favorite bass. And I love my Precisons.

The neck pup height makes a huge difference. I tried 'balancing' the two pups on my Bird, but it ended up sounding anaemic, so the bridge pup was put back where it sounds phat and angry. Also try soloing the neck pup and see if that improves things.

If you are still unimpressed, well it wasn't to be. We've all had basses we didn't gel with.

I have done that on my p bass before and it has made a difference but not majority with tone, I guess that's why I haven't tried it yet...ill give it a shot.

Low e saddle practically all the way back in order to intonate? Or just referring to where the adjustment is, and the tendency for the bolt to pop out of its little cradle alignment thingy?

Had a bit of a mixup with the wiring of my dual reverse P Lowe T-Bird build. The setup I wanted to use (VVT with a Les Paul style 3-way pickup selector) wouldn't work with the components that EMG sent me. Essentially I was missing their pickup buss. I spoke to Alison Turner at EMG and she sent me one free of charge and gave me an updated wiring diagram. Top notch customer service. Fittingly enough the pickup buss arrived today along with the electrosocket jack from Allparts. Time to get wiring!

I just mentioned a couple pages back that my studio v bird bugged me with chrome hardware and black pups. I was wondering if anyone made chrome/nickel 5 string pups for it and just didn't ask. Very cool to see it though.

This is the first Cataldo Fiver, built in 2012. Steve and I came up with ThunderBucker EX5 pickups for it. He's sold quite a few since then to replace stock Studio V pups.

I take an SSRI for depression.

I would strongly recommend against taking one except as prescribed for depression/anxiety. Prescription meds aren't just like over the counter aspirin and are not to be ****ed around with as if they are.

Active???

I thought Thunderbuckers were passive pickups - Did you put a pre-amp or similar in it?

You have to want to quit. When you do, JUST QUIT!! Its rough for about 3 or 4 months and then you get over it. Get a tobacco sunburst and play that instead. ;)
