It's a bone nut...idk if that claim is true or not I can't test the material, if it's plastic it's VERY dense, definitely beats what Epiphone had on there before. I replace the nuts on all my instruments so I do have experience with that. It's not too hard. Intonating the tbird was a pain in the @$$ though!

There are some days I am just not up for playing a Thunderbird. Other days, there is nothing else I would rather play. Maybe I'm fickle. But I think everyone needs some options.
I totally respect where you're coming from but my experience was the complete opposite. As the others have said you may have to really work on your amp settings to get a tone you're happy with. Definitely not as "plug and play" as a Precision but I found it a challenge that was worthwhile. You may not and that's cool too. If it's a playability thing, again, that's cool. May just not be your thing. I have all but regulated my vintage P to backup duty after getting my Epi Classic and my Schecter Bird wannabe.

The neck pup height makes a huge difference. I tried 'balancing' the two pups on my Bird, but it ended up sounding anaemic, so the bridge pup was put back where it sounds phat and angry. Also try soloing the neck pup and see if that improves things.
If you are still unimpressed, well it wasn't to be. We've all had basses we didn't gel with.

Beautiful!. I find when I start using one of my other basses more I feel guilty for leaving the current favorite alone.
Im gonna give the Count the benefit of the doubt based on the big reunion gig he did awhile back and the fact there were no photo's for like 2 months but they did arrive and they were seen. Get em up soon Count, I got your back!

Along with what has been said here, in my post regarding bridge pick up being to high, I actually meant the neck pick up possibly being to high. Lowering that neck p/up makes a huge difference.
For what's it's worth, friends of mine who've smoked and quit for good say it took Zyban to get them off the habit. Apparently, once the medication takes effect, you can't stand the taste anymore and nicotine has no effect.
Thx M, but for now, I'm still sticking with the cold turkey technique, bad enough I shoveled enough nicotine into myself, but I don't want to replace it with something just as nasty, or nastier.

Good afternoon folks. I thought I would drop by and see if I might get a number to the club. I have attached a picture of my recent purchase. She is my first Gibson and I am having a great time getting to know her. She is also the first active bass I have owned. Her previous owner replaced the stock pickups with Thunderbuckers and she sounds wonderful. She is very different from either my Jazz or P. I may have to pick up the four string version one of these days. I have learned a great deal reading the posts here, especially regarding the different eq settings. So far this has been a great experience. I have played one gig with her so far, and received many compliments on my tone. Thanks much.
