Used the SIT Flats today. Initial impression. Good strings. I would say good lows, some mids, good highs. Something in the mids (punch), seemed to be lacking--with that bass anyway. Might thicken up over time. Bright with a pick, even with warm heads (Apeg all tube and Ashdown ABM), especially when I began a song. That bass can be picky about strings and I'm unsure if they will stay, but likely will. But I'm me, so who knows. They will for a few more uses. Run through with the Ampeg and ABM for service. Liked both. Couldn't say which I preferred, both sounded good. Afterwards one lady in her 70s came up and said I needed to play that bass every week because she could really hear it. I can't tell what she was hearing through FOH. But there were several songs that were bass heavy and good bass songs.

I got my first new car in 1976 as I was leaving home to go off to college. I read about every car in that price range. Those things were way too ugly to ever think about buying.

‘76 Colt. It was the base model for $3400. I had saved $2200 and my parents helped with the rest.

Aha! That was the Chrysler Valiant Galant here. The Valiant Lancer was the smaller companion model.
We had Colt’s but they were smaller and in older and newer generations, not that era.

With the funny second high range gear stick instead of a 5 speed gearbox. This ^ is the one I pictured when you mentioned buying a Colt.

How long was that? Mine’s been over a week still in Canada.

Posted Chase wire transfer on a Friday. His guy packed it on Saturday. Funds cleared Monday. Shipped Tuesday. Arrived Saturday. No hiccups along the way. FedEx Ground. Easy peasy transaction. Perfectly packed and as described.

I ended up doing a full spa treatment and it looks like a ten year old bass with honest player wear. The case is fair, so it did the job over almost fifty years of the original owner gigging it and taking very good care of it. It has the ‘76 PG; some ‘77s have it as Gibson used them until they were gone. The knobs were replaced along the way. I added the bridge cover with Irv’s help, as the original as well as the neck pickup cover were lost to time.

Only thing left to do is find the right screw to fill the bass side pickup cover hole. And clean the PG screws.

An awesome Thunderbird chose me. I am honored to have it.

Mitsubishis rocked. The engine in mine was essentially the Zero plane engine. Mini hemi technology that performed above its weight. IMO, it was a better car than the comparable Toyota at the time.
