VPs, 60s, etc, are the real deal. I still say if I could only have one bass and it couldn't be my '64, it would be a VP. Closest thing(s) I have to the magic gold standard tone of the '64. Other basses sound good. Just not that good in a band setting.
Growl like a bear protecting cubs.
Having used the 360 pre (with the 300 power unit) and the 370 into the same 301 cab, I think the 360 sounds a bit more refined, and has more versatility in variety. But for raw, punch, I love the 370, it's less refined, untamed.Funny thing about that amp. I had one and didn't like it near as much as the 360 I kept and the 320/408 stack I sometimes regret letting go. Given the choice of that one or almost anything else? That one.
no bloody knees so....Way TMI.
sure they were oysters?...Yeah, well, I lived at the beach for seven years. Did them enough. Never, ever, again.
Thank Ken from Brooklyn, he’s responsible for putting us onto them, great strings!Growl like a bear protecting cubs.
@TBird1958 thanks for the tip with SIT Power Steels! They seem to be the perfect balance of Grunt and Spank.
Playability is fantastic, after tuning and tweaking string height over the last week.
Moved neck side pin yesterday.
With the new tuners, the dive was minimal.
Wants to sit level, but drops no further.
The weights are in today. Have another gig, but tomorrow they’ll be installed and the bass tonight after gig.
I’m definitely getting another Bird!
Oddly enough, the last couple times I've had a question my guy never called back. Normally he doesn't email and will call and we talk a while. Really weird.![]()

They’ll overnight it.We’ll see if Sweetwater is as good as usual. We unpacked the new drum kit and it had 3 extra tom arms and no kick…Mistake on one of the 3 boxes.
They were. I’ll admit to washing them down with too many beers. But still, never again.sure they were oysters?...
My guy doesn’t random call. He respects that boundary. But his post delivery call is always almost exactly 24 hours after delivery. Doesn’t matter what it was. A $3,000 rig or a $20 pack of strings. Nice guy, makes sure all is ok, and doesn’t try to sell me anything else. Always a pleasant conversation. Going on for about fifteen years now. When I bought the ‘21 NR, he went out to the warehouse the day the first PB ones arrived and pulled out the lightest one they received. 8 1/12 pounds. He’s kind and reliable.Oddly enough, the last couple times I've had a question my guy never called back. Normally he doesn't email and will call and we talk a while. Really weird.
