Had this for a while. Think it is a 2000 but serial and pots are hard to read. To my knowledge, this was a custom order of 20 Thunderbirds for Sam Ash. 18 white and 2 in black. Anybody heard of this?

Hi Rob @Basvarken. This player is asking about a special run of of twenty CustomShop II Reverses for Sam Ash with what looks like a sidewinder and Rosewood board. Do you know anything about these?

While I know quite a bit about Thunderbirds (from this thread and my own experience), others here a far more knowledgeable than I. I suspect someone will have some answers, but if that is a 1 of only 2 in black, of a run of only 20, I'd guess someone might be willing to pay a lot for it. Trick will be finding that "someone". If it's not from the '70's, then I'm thinking it's from the mid-2000's or later because, I think, Gibson re-started making Thunderbirds in the late 80's right up until recently. They had ebony fretboards until the mid 2000's, and II's, as far as I know, were not made, or available at all from Gibson regular production in that era.

I suppose it's possible that they could have used surplus Sidewinder cans with TBird+ innards? Either way, if it's circa 2000, that puts it in the timeframe of the very desirable '00-'01 iteration of the pluses. But then one would think they would have an Ebony board?

Visited my buddy Bill yesterday to run some HO trains.......
He paid about 6.5K for this car 6-7 years ago, he's restored the interior completely, the body is next - Cars used to be so beautiful.

What, exactly are the pots you prefer? I recall they were 500k linear for volume, 250k audio for tone? But which "brand"

Sealed : slight turning resistance (not all loosely goosey fast spinning ) solid feeling amplifier like .
TIGHT 10% tolerance (plus/minus) typical is about 30%!

B500k (Linear)
A250k (audio) for tone.

As to the .1 cap : opens the versatility a bit : gives me a wider tonal range on the rotation.
I can set the amp spanky bright, and tame it with a "just off 10" pull back.

The first 3/4 of the turn is like a .47, I don't need to pull back to zero all the time!
The last 1/4 turn cuts into the upper mids, and provides a low hump (about 250-100) at the last 1/8 of the turn.

"Dark" is correct! I dig down into Dub / reggae for some material and find it useful.

Got to meet Ray @/\/\3phist0 last night, caught his band playing at Eproson House. Great guy, had some time before and between sets to chat. Schugar Stixx has some fine players. They all did a great job adding some strong reggae flavor to a lot of old favorites and weaving from one song to another and back, like Hotel California sneakily changed to Maneater and back.

Playing my G&L mongrel THE prototype MFD split coils
THE prototype sickle headstock (I made and submitted to LLoyd, and Leo) a left hand neck drilled for Right hand side dots.
I stupidly sold the original bass I built with it (Inteceptor)
Found the neck online and got a Tribute LB100 body to home both!

Looks great! We're fortunate he has become part of the Club. He's been on TB for a long time. He contributes over in the Mesa Subway group too.

Over at the Subway thread: I got the D800 pre-order on Faith in @agedhorse , and wasn't disappointed. Bought a WD out of the First 100, again overwhelmed by the tones and attention to detail, build quality.
I LOVED Subway cabs too!
But, GAS and changing needs.
I'd LOVE to get a Subway 2x15 and just may soon!
The TT800 is totally my tone and feature set.

I'm kicking myself for not getting into Tbirds sooner. Making up for lost time though!
