Plus, that means three less guys who will have an opinion about what bass guitar you play. Scrooooem. Plus, you are now a power trio. Bass steps out front for that. Now you are in the market for a sparkly shirt to go with the 'Bird. There's always an upside, y'know.

It's one of those designs that "someone had to do it" ... but shouldn't have.

Yeah... it's nice to know the heat's off with regards to my li'l 5 string surprise;)

The drummer was among the 3 that bailed out, so that kinda shoots the power trio thing squarely in the tuckus. (plus we practiced at his house, sooo... yeah.)

I don't really do the whole sparkly shirt thing. For one thing... I don't really need help getting noticed. For another... something about me in a sparkly shirt makes kids ask me for rides. (made about 250bux at a Chuck E. Cheese before my back went out):thumbsup:

Absolutely no reservations at all my friend.
I can't afford an original, nor a '76.
But I am anxiously curious about the new Epiphone Thunderbird.
As much as I like the TB+ p/up's, I'm shooting for the idea that these replica's of the original, (though how close they're going to be is another story), will sound close to a term here coined by @kat888, "Big Angry Piano".

Aahhh... ok. I thought you were stuck on a fence or somethin' (not sure if it was the right bass for you or whatever). Yeah... those new neck-thru Epi's look really nice! Wish they came in MY size!

This Squire J has a very piano-like quality to it, it ain't angry at all though...

Oh I hear ya bro about what works for you.
In the past, I hadn't had much experience with Thunderbirds at all.
The love was rekindled when I remembered playing a friends original '63-64?, from his private collection, this was back in Portalnd Oregon around 2003.
He said take your time and enjoy, meaning in his store.
I had never played anything quite like that bass before. And unplugged, it was the meanest sounding angry piano I've ever heard. Just so open and growly sounding without being plugged in. And it was a feather weight, it was in the area of 7.5 pds. Then once I started coming here the rest is history.

Well, I knew Buck a little, having met and talked to him at his Crystal Palace several times and a few times at the Seven Oaks Country Club in Bako. He was a good guy. Gave a lot to his community. Most of it anonymously. He mentored several up and comers. He was a bit crazy, but not off the wall crazy. Best fiddle player I ever heard. He was a very talented writer. Heck, the Beatles covered two of his songs. He quit wearing Nudies years before he passed away. But yep, he sure looked good in one. RIP Buck. You are missed.
