So, the recent issue with the Jazz bass helped me understand why you see pro's and some famous folk with Fender-like instruments that ain't Fender, though I've never had any major issues with their guitars. I need to check on it, but my 1979 Strat's neck was still holding up strong back in 2009, micro tilt adjustment and three bolt neck and all-

David Gilmour played the cool fretless parts of "Hey You" with a Precision made of Schecter pats in the late-70's.

It really bothers me about the Jazz neck that would no longer adjust, even thought it's coming on 20 years old. Maybe they don't pay as much attention to the curing of the wood on bolt on necks as they do with set and neck-thrus. I remember waiting for a while to get my Warwick Thumb NT and the website stated that they let the wood cure for a very long time before assembiing a neck from it.

Here's a vid showing Nibs Carter of Saxon playing an ESP Precision in the studio- btw, at 54 he was the youngest member in the band, lead singer Biff Byford and the drummer on the cusp of turning 70. and the guitarists at 65 and 67 years old at the time the video was filmed back in 2020. Who's says old guys can't rock?



Of course he played a T-Bird live around the time of the album's release-

A 52 hp Ford 4600 dad bought new back in 1979 to round bale our custom Bermuda and Sudan grass and plow our large garden by the house in Texas.

But I'm having to do some work on the injector pump- when dementia started setting in, he didn't use it for three years. Now wer're not getting any fuel out of the pump, though there's fuel coming in. I found instructional vids on YouTube indicating that the fuel shut off plate is stuck. Need to get in there and free it up- If that doesn't work, I'll send it in for a rebuild.

My '76 Thunderbird was maxed out in that that the wood was budging next to the nut. I made a larger washer to fit, but likely needs to be larger (if that's even possible) to further distribute the pressure. There's not much wood there to begin with and once it starts to bulge out it's created a weakness that isn't going away. Not without some more serious attention.

The most problematic cars I've had were "low mileage." Things are meant to be used.

I don't know, but something as simple as some Gumout might work if you can get it everywhere is need to be. And might not....

I ordered a set of Fender brass trussrod washers from ebay - will also send the original neck to Warped Necks in Denton, TX to have it heat pressed to see if they can correct it. For 70 bucks plus shjpping its worth a shot- then I'll have a spare.

I might even drive up there and drop it off -it's a 4-5 hour drive from Seabrook. Perhaps I can stop by Cross Plains to the southwest and visit the Robert E, Howard Museum home while they're working on it and drive back from there to pick it up? For those who don't know, he was the creator of Conan and the modern Swords and Sorcery genre of literature- he was not only a native born Texan, but from rural Texas., and sadly died in his early-30's at the Cross Plains home. Who would've thought that he and H.P. Lovecraft were pen pals?

Since we’re here all week, I decided what the heck. It all packed up very compactly. Just the two of us. The Crosstrek has a surprising amount of room. Basically a few changes of clothes (there’s a washer/dryer), food for the whole week, and us.

Yep. I’m on an allowance these days. But I’m likely going to put a set in the $200 CP I picked up. It’s a nice player, light and balances well.

Wood is not entirely predictable and sometimes necks are going to warp or not move the way you want them to.
The concept of Fender instruments included a removable neck could be replaced much more easily than the set neck on a Gibson.
You are using that feature.

I tried doing it myself on a beat up Korean Goth I had about ten years ago. Followed some YouTube video, clamped it to a steel beam. Wasn’t successful. Neck was too twisted.
