Saxon in concert and very much alive in 2024 starting with the title track from their latest album Hell, Fire, and Damnation released that year- a robust performance, especially considering that the singer Biff Byford and drummer Nigel Glockler are in their early 70's. Yes and Nibbs Carter is playing his Thunderbird and gets a fair share of the camera asf well as the mix-
So the band has remained relatively intact since the early-80's. The personal changes being Nibbs Carter joining in 1988 after founding member Steve Dawson left in 1986 due to creative differences. and guitarist Doug Scarratt replacing founding member Graham Oliver in 1996.
Guitarist and founding member Paul Quinn is still with the band and records in the studio but stopped touring with them in 2023. Brian Taller of Diamondhead tours in his place.
For some perspective here is Saxon in concert in mid-late,80's.

I think it will encourage people (young men mostly) back into the trades and they will hopefully find what not being stuck in an office is like. I kind of think the "college bubble" has come and is not popping but deflating in many ways. Maybe. My crystal ball has shorts and static.

Exactly. Those types of jobs can't be done from a computer or by a computer.
It's the reason the grain appears to curve.
Manufacturing on the other hand, can be done by a machine.
As out there as this may sound, Neil Peart may have been a visionary.....picture the year 2112 where the "Priests" (Engineers/Techs) enter the "Temple of Syrinx" (AI Datacenter).....
Yep, and many of those machines can 3D print their own replacement parts....but you still need a human to fit most of those parts....
Great show last night. The following band's Mustang bass even sounded huge through my GK.

Neil Peart’s “2112” was prophetic in a number of ways. The “Priests of the Temples of Syrinx” controlled knowledge, information, and expression — exactly what data, algorithms, and AI systems do today in a sense. Your line reframes it brilliantly:
In this modern reading:
- The Priests = the designers, programmers, and corporate tech elites who maintain the digital systems governing information and access.
- The Temple of Syrinx = vast, humming AI data centers that serve as repositories of all human knowledge — and, potentially, gatekeepers of it.
- The individual with the guitar (in Peart’s story) = the creative human spirit rediscovering individual expression and beauty, outside the sterile control of centralized systems.
So, the interpretation is a perfect 21st-century mirror of 2112.
