Not sure about nut size, but almost certain it's not the same. But honestly they affect the tone about like changing your strap (except for the aforementioned open string, but even then it's not much. You may want to change it and just like the look of a different one, and that's perfectly fine, but if you are wanting to change the tone, don't waste your time and money. Spend it elsewhere.

Didn’t SkyNet or iRobot kinda start out this way. Man creates computers, gives them artificial intelligence, they become self aware, then decide humans are a threat to their existence and the earth, so they set out to kill us all. Might be best not to step out in front of any of those taxis.

I respectfully disagree Donny - the choice of nut material has an effect on the way a bass sounds. I know because I've tried multiple options over many years on multiple basses. After the pu's and electronics, the first most important factor for how a (solid-body electric) bass sounds is the neck. (wood, both neck & fingerboard) which string-breaks at the bridge & nut. Brass, bone, hybrid brass/ebony & brass/rockwood... all a dynamic part of tone-shaping. I agree it's somewhat minimal but not just with open strings. And it depends on the specific bass. As in, no silver bullet - what works for one bass doesn't necessarily work for another bass. This is judged in clarity/definition, sustain and consistency from string to string. Obviously a plastic nut will hold the strings in line and the bass will still sound like a bass, but it comes down to how discriminate one is of how their bass sounds at home, at rehearsal, live and recording. Even graphite to me is a version of plastic, with its only advantage being 'slippery'. (based on the traditional use of rubbing pencil/graphite in the nut slots so the string doesn't 'drag') Then there's "fashion" - something introduced at one point and later considered a "trend" to be discarded in favor of... whatever wants to be sold.
I could go on about my own personal discoveries related in detail, but from what I've learned the nut is a much underrated element of how a bass sounds.
Original bone nut on my '64 II incorrectly slotted from the factory & my correct brass nut - yes, it made a different in a few ways, and not just in string alignment. TSC drummer Phil considers it my best sounding bass. Think about that.., a drummer that actually cares about how my bass sounds...

No, Lamborghini has never won a Formula 1 Grand Prix. While it supplied engines to teams like Larrousse and Lotus from 1989-1993 and built its own chassis for the 1991 Modena team, it never secured a race victory. The Modena team's best result was a seventh-place finish, and the overall projects did not lead to a win.

It’s funny, my Greek mate swears by Greek olives/oil.
My Spanish mate swears by (and only buys) Spanish Olive Oil (and olives possibly).
Italians here go for Italian oil and olives.
My Lebanese mate doesn’t discriminate afaik, but his Mum and relo’s grow and preserve their own olives from their trees at home.
I buy Aussie grown and pressed Olive Oil. I generally only eat olives on a pizza… or in a Greek salad.
(I have agreed to slowly build up my olive consumption. I’ll start taking two from the bowl they order when we go out!) I have started buying stuffed vine leaves though. Dolamades? Yum.
It’s funny that my Dads home town (it’s in a wine area) has olive trees and hazelnut trees all around the place now.
The self-aware entities I referred to would be more accurately described as Non Biological Intelligence (NBI), who would consider AI a slur or pejorative term and would eventually lobby for its censure in polite society-
