Thunderbird Club

As I approach my 74th trip around Sol this year, I realize I can now decide on a few things, also the only group I respect enough to share/solicit opinions are my friends here on the Thunderbird group.

For those of you with enough Sol cycles to decide (I'll probably not buy another bass).

What is your favorite bass? Mine is my 2014 Thunderbird.

What is you're best bass (if not the same)? Mine is my SJ5XXX (easily the best playing bass I've ever owned/played)
View attachment 7398207
And finally what is your favorite song? As an avowed Beatles fan, I thought it would be one of their's, but upon reflection, shockingly mine is McArthur Park (I know, I know, many hate it). But it touches a chord within me, and also takes me back 50 years to a time and place.

Thanks for any sharing, and no ties please. Choose 1 of each. Happy New Years!
Too many favorites, all 'best' and probably this song -

My Fave, '64 II, it's The Real Thing. Piece of history, Road warrior.

My best, my Lull. Thunderbird refined, yet still faithful to the original, it plays very nicely and sounds great.

Fave song is always "She Sells Sanctuary" by The Cult.

Love the '60s psychedelic look of the video, I want TNH to do something like this when we perform as Ornamental Bush.

My favorite song:

Some dude walked into Pawn Stars with a white '63 Strat and proof of Hendrix having owned it and recording it with BoG....
wanted 750k for it but schmoe at the Pawn Shop only wanted to give him 600k even after the expert told him it would sell for millions at auction........:rollno:
Dude told schmoe, I'll call you when I go to auction....
I remember that. Interesting story. Dude should have taken the instant cash IMO. No cost to selling it for him. People go into pawn shops (especially that one), thinking they will get what it's valued at or what it will in turn sell for. That seems to have ahppened about every episode I ever saw. Pawn shops like any store are there to make money and it takes money to make money and when buying something, take on all the risk. Especially if you have to nail down the provenance and take something to auction and give them their significant cut. Tying up over half a mill not knowing when it will sell would have to be considered from a business stand point and what even possible to pay I would think.
Millions--plural--seemed too high. (I think the one he played at woodstock did sell for 2 mill. But a historic event greatly added to the value there and had film of him playing it. Several important factors going on there. Around a mill or some over I thought. Even then it all depends on the state of things and who at that moment has the money and has to have it. I later remember reading somewhere it was listed later for $1.2. True? Who knows. And who knows what it actually sold for even if true. The article mentioned another early 60s Strat owned by Jimi Hendrix that sold for $325,000 at auction.
But don't know if he ever played it. I think one of many he owned.

But I will say the '66 NR is right after it. Maybe it's just all the work I put into it!

Another good one. We actually do Little Devil and Wildflower, they go over real well, even to people who don't know them.

Yep: "Bird in hand" value.

Unless the gent proclaiming it worth millions is making an offer, it's just an opinion. Maybe an expert one, possibly 100% correct, but still an opinion. Not an offer.

Speculative value versus actual value of cash on the barrelhead.

I've got a bunch of stuff of high speculative value but it's cash value is zero unless I find somebody who agrees with my opinion, and is willing to pony up the ducats right now.

And finding that person has a cost, too.

And trying to convert in any kind of emergency? Fuggitaboutit.
